Day hike bag

Anybody use a maxpedition jumbo versipack or some other bigger single shoulder strap sling bag? How do you find it feels after carrying for a few hours?

I carry a UTG Tactical Organizer, which is a clone of the Jumbo. I've had it for 3+ years, carrying it every day since it replaced my stolen Jumbo. That is my EDC bag, and I carry it as is when I do day hikes. It already has a space blanket, poncho, 32oz water bottle, 50 feet of cord, glow sticks, ESEE 3, lighter, 50 feet of cord, and more in it.

I like to stay healthy and active, and frequently take long walks to mull things over when my mind is busy. It's not uncommon or uncomfortable for me to do 11 continuous miles with the UTG on and full.

I don't do many day-hikes, but I do work in a wilderness/semi-wilderness setting, and since I'm the instructor, i'm expected to be pretty prepared. My setup is a two stage system, starting with a Ribz pack. Its got a very basic first aid kit (heavy on gloves), fire, some candy, and a few extra things that I need while instructing. (sunscreen, bug repellent, and the like) Second is my activity pack. I have a couple different backpacks, they carry the larger first aid kit, and snake-bite bandages, along with which ever stuff I need for that activity, so canoeing is a 20L seal-line baja with some toys and throw rope. high-ropes is my harness, hardwear and helmet, and then I have another bag for more generic activities, or ones that don't need extra equipment on my part, like games, archery and the like.

The ribz is pretty well a self contained kit as far as I could pretty easily spend the night out with it, but its greater utility is that I have everything at hand at all times. Then the variable gear all goes in whatever size backpack I need, be it for an over-night, half day, or single activity.

Bundeswehr mountain jäger daybag.
Cost me about 10eur used back then. Tougher than any pack I could imagine.
Canvas is thick as heck and I've carried some really heavy stuff in this.
It could have few more pockets outside, but then it wouldn't look as awesome. :D
Also suitable for overpacking, like blankets and tent.
My most trusted companion in every day life and best ten eur ever spent!
