Day Hiking in the Rainy Season (pic heavy)

Awesome pictures, thanks for sharing

I especially like this one:

Not bad at all. I was surprised. I did spray DEET on my legs and hat and that seemed to keep the little buggers off. Prior to application, I caught one tick crawling on my leg hair and a mosquito, the size of a small aircraft, landed on my arm.

That looks like tough slogging. How were the skeeters?

Thanks for the nice comments, fellas.

Skunk, how far back to the right along the creek? I'll go looking for them and see if I can snap some pics.

Mikeal... Must be that black water that eats your boots :D We should get SIXFOOTER and the three of do a trip. Be warned though, I'm only 5' 6" and I take 2 steps for every one that most folks take. I tend to hike at varied speeds.

Boom: No gators... To far inland from the river

Sounds good, I'm down for that. I'm usually in no hurry either. I found out the last time I was at Dupuis that the powerline grade is public access and you can hit the florida trail right about here. Dupuis to the West and Corbett to the East and water all around.

Fantastic Photos WolfTracker!
I used to live in Juno Beach, and I spent a lot of time in J.D. State Park. Part of me misses Florida, but I don't miss the heat or mosquitos!
Is the "wild man of the Loxahatchee cabin still there?
Jason

Junkyard: Yep, the cabin is still there.

Mikeal: Let's see if we can set up something in the next couple of weeks. I'm down for Corbett and I'll reach out to Sixfooter and see if he wants to come along.

If I remember right they were about an hour in ,couple miles maybe, to the left of the trail. Kinda hard to see at first because they are only 3 or 4 foot high burms in a "C" shape, I think there are 3 of them, relativley close to the river.

Looks like .. you should have been torn up by mosquitoes. Other than that, it sounds like you had a good time.

Skunk, I'll take a look along the creek and see what I can find.

Game, they weren't bad at all. A little DEET on the legs and hat and I was good to go. They were only pesky when I stopped to rest.

My parents are in Florida for part of the year. I visited them a few years back and we took a fanboat tour of gator country. Very cool!

Then I ate some gator meat and got food poisoning. Not as cool.
