Day in the life of a traditional at Disneyworld

Yep. Epcot, in the Norway exhibit, sells traditional knives from Norway. I carried a Victorinox Farmer or a MooreMaker trapper when me, the wife and kids went.

I believe they sold traditionals in Disneyland in CA ack in the day in Frontierland. Again, been using the stockman to trim straws, etc. Flashlight came in handy last night to read maps at night during Christmas party.

I'd never go to Disney without a knife. That place is infested with giant rodents!

I'd amend that to "sold". If they do, I've never seen one, and I've looked every time my wife and I have gone.

There's far worse things at Disney World than pocket knives. Ever done Mr. Toad's Wild Ride? That ride is messed up.

I live not too far from Disneyland in Anaheim, and I brought my Case 6244 in. Every little souvenier the kids bought were either in clam shell packages, or had tags on them that needed to be removed. I even helped out a couple of moms struggling while their little one was doing a, "I want my toy now mommy" dance, so I offered my assistance. I did not hide it, but did not go overboard either. Common sense should prevail. Now, if they would have asked me to leave, I would be dealing with the wrath of my wife, which is scarier than the haunted house ride.

As a born Texan, I find that some events and venues are monitored closely, and at others you would be considered going naked without a nice blade on your person. So many men and women, boys and girls carry knives around here I rarely see anyone actually notice when you pull one out for use.

For someplace that might be a bit twitchy (very rarely anyplace), I will leave my bigger knives in the truck and carry a peanut. Everywhere else that I carry a traditional I will carry one of my large stockmans or my ancient old CASE copperlock, a large Jack, etc. It isn't unusual to find other knife guys asking you about your blade when you pull out an old classic like a Barlow or a bone handled stockman.

It's true about firearms, though. As long as you have your CWP, no one around here cares if you are packin'. About the only place you can't carry a gun is a real bar.

Hi Robert,

As a fellow Texan and CHL carrier, I would have to disagree. To avoid derailing the thread on a discussion not related to traditional knives, you can PM me and I can provide the details on the Texas penal codes related to where a person with a CHL can't carry which is more than just a bar.

*Sigh*......

I know it was an exaggeration. It was late (check the time of the post). I was tired.

I didn't go into details myself because of:

1) the lighthearted tone of this thread
2) a great number of participants don't live in Texas so don't care about our laws
3) some may or may not care about our CWP laws
4) I figure most can figure out on their own you can't carry at schools, college campuses, airports, courthouses, restaurants that serve too high a percentage of their daily sales as alcohol, and on an on
5) Wasn't here to educate anyone on Texas gun laws. I read a previous post on getting "wanded" at the Texas State Fair and appreciated the irony that you can carry a gun in many places, but may not be able to carry a pocket knife. The idea of leaving your CASE peanut in the truck and wearing your loaded gun on your belt is still a strange concept to me
6) Probably most important, I didn't want to get dinged by the mods for going OT, especially since there was a warning in post #6 about doing so

I understand I took literary license and hope I didn't lead anyone astray. It was an off handed comment, void of detail so as not to encourage debate about gun laws. On reflection, I probably should have put a couple of smiley faces after it so it would be more evident that my comment wasn't actually the complete law of the state. You know a lot of folks still think we all carry six shooters and ride horses to work. (This was never more evident than when I visited northern CA a few years ago!)

Thanks for your offer. I am sure it was meant in an sincere and earnest way, but I am good without further instruction.
