My wife's grandfather and two uncles come up to the Tex-Mex border this time of year to sell sacks, garlic, and other things. They are leaving back to their hometown in a few days after being on the border for two months. We went across into Mexico and took some bbq goodies to have a family get together before they leave. I took my DMT dual sided sharpender. I sharpened up two kitchen knifes they had and a Case sod buster that one of her uncles has. They usually sharpen their knives with a file or riverbed rocks they get by a dried up riverbed by their home. They were very impressed with how sharp I got those knives. I showed them the best I could how to do it and get a decent edge. I ended up giving them my DMT, it is cool how much they appreciate things like that. They really do. My buddies here are'nt impressed in the least when I sharpen up their cheap chinese knives. They are just like oh its sharp:rolleyes: and thats it. My wifes uncle was trying to see how I did it cause he liked the way the edges came out. I know that DMT will get put to good use, cause they use knives everyday and don't know about brandnames and steels. They just know which ones work well.

Very generous of you.

I know that DMT will get put to good use, cause they use knives everyday and don't know about brandnames and steels. They just know which ones work well.

Ultimately that's what knives are about, to make our everyday tasks a little easier.

Very nice of you! They seem a lot like my wife's parents. Very humble and grateful for the gifts they receive.

Nice move and really good that it was appreciated, that sharpener is going to become a local legend!

An act of teaching and then providing the tools for others to continue what you have taught --- two wonderful gestures that will send ripples of good feelings in lots of directions.
