Last Saturday and yesterday (Friday), me and some friends hiked portions of the Tunxis Trail in CT. The first part was about 7 miles, with a larger group (the girls came along). The girls bagged on us for the second part, which ended up being about 11 miles.
The second portion was much easier until the last mile or so (which was almost vertical). The Tunxis Trail is an awesome trail that features a ton of beautiful streams and brooks and big mossy boulders. The buds are just starting to come out on most of the plants, I can't wait to get back to the trail once all the foliage is out.
I grabbed a bunch of photos, most of them scenery. I'll just post them up in no special order...
Little bit of preparedness boasting:
yesterday (second day of hiking), Ryan's ankle was bothering him. As we hiked more and more, his ankle got worse and worse. When we stopped for lunch around the fourth mile, he soaked it in the water to help the pain. Next time he stopped to soak it, we decided to try wrapping it. Not having any pre-wrap for the tape, we decided he should shave his ankle. Out came my GEC pioneer trapper with a stupid sharp spey blade. He shaved up his ankle, and we taped it up with my athletic tape, which helped the situation alot. I still don't think he's going to be doing much walking around today, but having a couple of basic things went toward a great increase in comfort for him.
It was really funny, watching him sitting there shaving his leg at the side of a stream...
