Hi guys,

I am looking for a new daypack for warm weather hiking. Lots of companies are now making packs that have an air space between you and the pack body, to improve ventilation. Kind of a trampoline arrangement. (It's been a while.) Here is one by Gregory at REI:

It seems like a good way to get a little support, stay cooler, and stay a little drier.

What do you think of them?

Osprey makes some nice ones, from day pack size all the way to week-long size. I like mine.

I like them. I have two Marmot packs with the aluminum framed air space, and they are super comfortable. You would think that they would cause problems since they push the load further away from your back, but when it is loaded and strapped on, it compresses and comes much closer to your back. I think that they are much more comfortable than a regular pack with the same load, but I wouldn't try to put a lot of weight in them. Should be fine for a daypack.
