Hi all. I just wanted to give a big shout out to Dave Martinez (dblades.com). I'd seen a couple of his knives on eBay, and he went above and beyond with his customer service from our first interaction. He added extra pics for me, answered my questions, dropped the price a bit because of the crappulent US-->AUS exchange rate right now, and most importantly, posted directly to me in Australia. I wasn't expecting such a nice sheath either. It's got a fantastic thumb-ramp on it, makes deployment smooth as. It arrived laser-sharp. And the brass-infused CF handles make me go tingly in all the right places. You can still see the knife I bought at dblades.com/product-page/vanadis-4e. (is it OK to put a link in here?)
Just FYI, he produces knives using exotic manly-man tough bastard steels like Vanadis 4E, CPM M4 and even REX 121, for which he should receive some kind of bravery award. I also really like his honesty and humility. In his own words on eBay (davidp457):
"I work full time Law Enforcement, so I'm a part timer knife maker who does this in his spare time. I have a small shop behind my house where I make all the blades, each blade is made complete by hand and starts off from a bar of steel, I do send all the blades for heat treatment as the super steels require very precise equipment. I’ve been making knives for the past 5 years but only recently started selling online. Please be aware that I’m still a learning blade-smith and thus all my blades have imperfections and are all imperfect."
Thanks again Dave. I hope others check out your work.
