2HP OR 1.5KW I found this guy that has a few of these motors and controllers all new... They have a shaft on both ends would these work for a grinder? He was hard to understand didnt speak to good English the price is right... Sorry dont have a brand name on them just yet..

Make sure you see them working for yourself before you hand over any money, but other than that, they should work.

If you dont mind, let me know what he is asking for one if he has more than what you want, I have been looking for one for a good price and if the price is right may be willing to pay to get it shipped. thanks a lot, you can email me at frosstyx@gmail_dot_com .

will do Frossbyte He said they were to be used in a elevator or a winch of some kind..
Just a thought why wouldn't a golf cart motor and controller work?

Its too much of a hassle to use a golf cart motor setup. You can't just plug it into the wall socket. It would be a 12 volt DC motor. You'd need to spend a lot of money on parts to just be able to plug it in. To avoid that I guess you could hook it up to a series of car batteries, but you would need a bank of least 6 good batteries (to keep them from running down too fast), plus heavy guage wire, and a voltmeter so you don't overcharge them. Plus, you'd need a charger, a heavy duty charger, to keep the batteries charged, and those can cost $100 plus in used condition.

In short, your first idea is both cheaper, easier, and more reliable.
(MAKE SURE YOU SEE THE MOTORS WORKING BEFORE YOU HAND OVER THE CASH!)

If the motor is going to be used for a grinder, I would highly recommend making sure its TEFC (totally enclosed, fan cooled). Otherwise the motor(s) will get grinding dust in them, and will burn out in very short order.

They work awesome they are still in the plywood box.. Ed now that might be a problem I will have to check on that. that worries me a little. they also have double shaft one is 5/8 and the other is 3/4 but I dont know about TEFC.....

I only mentioned that because I went down that road when I didn't have much experience.....I spent a couple hundred dollars on a 1hp motor that was not TEFC.....it lasted all of two weeks. One day I was grinding, heard a loud pop, saw a flash, and then the telltale puff of smoke came out of the motor.... That was it.

I actually did take it to a motor shop to see if it could be repaired.....$300 to rewind it! And that was MANY years ago. It might as well have been a million dollars at that time....learned a hard lesson.
