Hi all, would like to know if 1hp dc baldor motor 1700 rmps on 115 volts input- 90 volts armature be equal to one on 220 volts input- 180 volt armature? Side by side any difference from 0 to 1700 rpms? Thanks

If both are rated at 1HP and have the same RPM, they are equivalent in that respect.

Given the choice, I would take the 180VDC motor. They usually are more robust and you will get a better speed range. You won't trip a breaker as easily either. Also, you can run a 180VDC motor on 90VDC, but you can't run a 90VDC motor on 180VDC.

Most DC grinder motors are wired at the factory to run either 90VDC off 110/115VAC controller input, or 180VDC off 220/230VAC controller input. The drive unit ( controller) is what you connect to the AC to provide the VDC. Many drives will run on 110 and 220VAC as well as provide 90 or 180VDC output. It is best to run the controller on 220VAC if available.
