DDR Zaza MM3 Project

This particular thread was not the place to air my views......I do apologize for that. My views however, haven't changed. Darrel and I will have a one on one and we will settle/resolve this between ourselves, which is where I should have gone in the first place. If our conversation results in something positive then I am sure it will be made known.I am not adopting a "superior to you" attitude, but one of I will "wait and see".

There is nothing in this thread that is intended to impunge ZaZa's work......but I do see your point, Chuck. Having said that, this thread should resume its original course.

Maybe you don't see it Tanya, but you loudly are implying some kind of guilt until proven otherwise onto Darrel. "Check yourself" on that one.

Wow, step away for a couple of days and look what happens! I posted these pictures to share some new work by two spectacular artisans. This side discussion pushed me to look at Todd's work. Not really my style of knife... I certainly would never mistake a Ralph for a Begg or Begg for Ralph. Both artisans are talented and make cool knives.

Is that not that great? Darrel is a nice and respectful man. I am proud to call him my friend.

Darrel, Where was Zaza trained? What othe makers has he worked with? His filigree is wonderful.

To all...

The last thing I want here is for Mrs. Begg to be pushed to do anything she does not feel is right for her.
That will never settle anything. I feel she will make the move if she wants to.
If not this tiff will just sit and boil causing nothing but negitive to come to her.

I refuse to let negitive into my life if I dont have to.
Positive creates positive always. That is a better life if you ask me.

Todd Begg is a very creative Knifemaker. I harbor no Ill will for him at all. I have talked to him several times. I will continue to talk to him. Thats all I know.
I dont feel there is a problem here. Just two good makers that love what they do.

Zaza is Russian and trained in Russia to create the awesome beauty that you see. Once again I feel that this knife was is a collaboration between him and I. His views are as important as mine. This is a celebration of of two artistic ideas melting into one package.
It will fit some folks ideas of a very cool knife and not others. It is that way in the world. We are all different and see life differently.

Zaza has collaborated with some of the very best knifemakers in the world. Please do a search online to find more information about him.
He also does some of the finest wood wire inlay work I have ever witnessed.
We are working on another idea right now that is another step in the milestone direction.

Chuck,
I feel the same as you do.

Thanks to all for the good words or otherwise.

Hi,
I am new here. Checkd this place out many times in the past finally joined today. I had to sound off here first and say HOLY MOSES! That is an incredible knife. A beautiful piece that anyone would be lucky to own.....JC

I am sorry to hijack this thread, but felt it was appropriate to post this here, since this thread is what got me ticked off to begin with.

I spoke with Darrel today at length on a myriad of subjects and issues. We have come to an understanding with him on the issue of the similarities in the WAY the fullers/grooves are done. I appreciate Darrel speaking with me and appreciate his desire to resolve this in a way that serves us both, as well as the knife community.

Thanks, Darrel!! See you in Vegas.

Tanya

Mrs. Begg and I spoke today for a good while. She was very polite and enjoyable to talk to. We worked out our issues and we agreed to make the knife making community a better place with our decisions.

Mrs. Begg, thanks for your polite conversation. Vegas is just around the corner... See ya there!

Thanks to everyone in this thread for keeping it civil. Its always better to be positive about life.

While trained at the best schools in Russia, Zaza is actually Georgian.

Georgia is one of the former-Soviet-nations. It's south of Russia on the Baltic Sea just north of Turkey, Armenia and Azerbiajan. It was actually the first former-Soviet-nations to declare indepedence. Georgia made headlines in November of 2003 when the governement of Eduard Shevardnadze tried to manipulate legislative elections which touched off widespread but peaceful protests. New elections in early 2004 swept nationalist Mikheil SAAKASHVILI into power. Today, Georgia is rapidly becoming a health and prosperous democracy.

Georgia has long been famous for knife making and for metalwork in general. While in Russia for the Moscow Knife Show, I was told, "To have a Georgian knifemaker as an enemy is a very bad thing, but to have a Georgian knifemaker as a friend is a very good thing." So, I'm lucky to have a Georgian knifemaker as a friend.

While knives and swords are a favorite form for Zaza, he does other jewlery and metalwork pieces as well. His work is soughtafter by the world's top collectors, royalty, and celebrities. I am very proud to add yet another Revishvili to my collection.

Of course, Darrel Ralph, I think, needs no introduction on this forum.

I received the knife today and I think it's wonderful. The hyperstep "filework" is incredible.

This is truly a great piece which I'm delighted to have.

I am so happy Ms. Begg and Mr Ralph talked. Life is good when parties discuss things. That said,

Gollnick, I agree with you. Darrel showed me the hyperstep pattern en-proto and I thought that was the coolest filework patterning I think I have ever seen. It is drop-dead awesome in person.
