DE blade preferences?

So far I have:

Derbys
Sharks
Dorco 301s
Feathers
Iridium Supers
Bic

...and a few random blades too few used to judge.

Overall, It's hard to beat a Derby;) I'm just a little over a month into the DE shaving and I'm still enjoying it a lot. The only blade I can't say I'd keep using was some old Blue Gillettes that came with a purchase. If I was forced to pick one blade and stay with it I'd probably go with Derbys, but I do enjoy the variation and characteristics of some of the others. Also some perform better in different razors.

I don't find Feathers to be near as scary as some make them out to be, but they aren't my favorite either. I seem to get a little irritation from them, but very close shaves.

Feather, what I'm using right now, is often a bit "over dramatized" on some of the forums ("I tried one pass with a Feather blade and now I'm on the waiting list for a face transplant"). They are certainly sharp, but they are wonderful shaving blades.

I was using Super Iridium and then switched back to Feather as part of an evaluation. S Ir is very good, but Feather is great. Feathers are just so smooth.

Derby is a wonderful blade too and just so consistent blade-to-blade. I love Derby blades, especially in my sliver Gillette razor.

Bic is the other blade I like.

I personally prefer Astra Superior Platinum DE blades over all other anymore. My old "go to" blade is no longer being produced in the same factory, and has thus suffered QC issues.

I'm definitely a fan of the Derbys. I like the Sharks too. But the Derby blades are just so good and smooth. My face likes them in a Gillette adjustable.

Got some Astra Superior Platinums in on Saturday after doing a bit of research... Very impressed so far:thumbup: They seem to be a great combination of sharpness, forgiveness and price and my face likes 'em too.

Bics give me a bit closer shave, but I get a few weepers especially on the first shave.

Durwood, that's interesting, I find the same thing with BIC they're much better after the first shave. Odd.

I ordered 300 of the Derby blades for $9.99 per hundred. I received the Shaving Factory TTO razor for free. I used it with a Bic blade and got a sweet shave. It's a really mild razor, so I figured I'd use it with the sharpest blade I have. BBS shave, no nicks, cuts, or weepers.
All this with a lightweight, chinese copy of a Super Speed.
