• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

De-Horning Needed

I recently acquired a like new Buck Mayo 172 and consider it a almost perfect edc knife except for the top "horns" of the scales the make it uncomfortable to reach past it in my pocket. Found some threads where folks have modified this but I'm reluctant to apply my uneducated dremel to this. Contacted STR but he's not doing these types of mods these days. Any recommendations for someone that could do a clean job of de-horning and maybe anodizing? Thanks. JLee

i can dehorn it for you but i cant do the anodize. have you checked with buck and see if the factory can do it?

the factory finish is bead blasted for sure and probably lightly anodised.

if richard can't get the factory finish back, i'd ask him a two tone finish. leave the flats as is but polish the edges and beveled parts of the scales to match the ground part. i've seen this a couple of times on pimped and custom knives and it can look quite classy.

Can't believe I didn't think of that PWET, thanks. Richard, dropped you an email. Lets get together and figure this out.
