I’m sure most of us have heard the current situation that Paul ( DE OPPRESSO LIBER ) and his family are going through. I just received an email from him describing his day…he is on his way to bury 3 of his cousins. It is my understanding that it’s a mom and her two children. I’ve been through a lot of death this past 3 years as some of you know, but I can’t imagine what Paul is going through right now and to be honest, I hope I never have to. Paul further mentioned that he is planning on putting some knives up for sale on the Exchange to raise money for the 4 year old little girl who survived this horrible tragedy.

This reminds me of when my daughter’s mother died of cancer over 2 years ago….thank god I was there for her. And, thank god this 4 year old little girl has someone like Paul to help her out during her time of need. With this in mind ….I have offered to send pictures/descriptions of 1 or 2 knives for Paul to add to his For Sale thread. Money can be sent to him and I’ll handle the shipping to the buyer. My thinking is to make it as simple as possible for Paul, I’ll suggest a very reasonable price (to sell quickly), come up with a description, include pictures, and all Paul has to do is post it and collect the money. I don’t have a lot of liquid cash that I can offer but I do have knives that I can put up to help.

This is what I’m doing….I don’t want this posting/thread starter to be construed as a solicitation or a BF sponsored event. It is my sole desire to try and help someone who belongs to this community and maybe encourage others to freely join me.

I’ve contacted Paul with my idea….sorry I didn’t wait for your permission to post this bro, I’ll let him chime in with any contact information and possible other suggestions to make this easier on him and his family. If nothing else comes out of this I want Paul and others to know that I consider this community and the people here more than just a place for me to idle away my spare time. I have never met most of the people here and I may never get that pleasure but in a wonderful way all those that participate in this community are important to me. I feel blessed for the opportunity to give something back to one of those people.

Brian,

Just let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

I know we couldn't do this on here but i've seen on other forums (JerzeeDevil cough cough) that often a knife or gear is raffled off to raise funds.

A larger price than normal can be asked for as it's a good cause and the total price is divided up into many small parts with everyone having a bit of a gamble.

I know there are a few people on here that are also on JD forum so with a little work maybe we could do this. I would be in for sure.

(If this post is in direct contradiction to BF rules then i'll remove it)

The older you get ... the more of this you see and experience.

I know what he's going through, and I imagine I'm not the only one here who does.

(Nudge) Solstice, PM me if there is an acceptable method/ venue found. (I'll keep tabs on this thread too.)
Pete

Brian, I'm in for a good guy like Paul! if you are able to get something together, please keep me in mind to help as I can.

Whatever I can do, I'm willing to do... Let me know, Solstice.

Hey everyone....I'm hoping to hear from Paul tonight or tomorrow. If he doesn't contact me I'll try and get in touch with him. I'll try and keep this thread close to the top with information. Thanks! This is one class act group.

Yup - If I can help here in some small way - I will.

Death is never convenient, timely or welcome. But that is why the rest of us are here - to aid and comfort the living.

Thanks! This is one class act group.

I agree wholeheartedly. I've never experienced a forum like this, and I'm a member of many. Let us know what we can do.

On another note, maybe we can talk Jerry or Garth into offering up (donating?) a nice custom as raffle fodder, and hosting it on the home forum. I know BF wouldn't really condone it because of the issues which might arise, but at the home forum, Jerry makes his own rules. I'd drop some dollars on a raffle if I knew the funds would go somewhere worthwhile. It would certainly help to perpetuate the "family" vibe.

As a matter of fact, the fellas on the LouderThanWords forum (gun customizers like Ted Yost and Chuck Rogers, and amazing leather guys like Nossar and John Ralston) often set up raffles for worthy causes where all the guys do their parts to customize a 1911 and leather rig, and then sell tickets for 5$ apiece. Their customs are usually themed to represent the cause, and they always make good money for their group. I think that would be great!

I'm sure I have a knife to donate, let me know.

Sounds as if things are coming together for this little girl. It's a great thing you've started here Paul....I'd be honored to play some part in it. Please post here or email me when you're ready to open a For Sale thread in the Exchange and we'll see if we can get folks together to help as they can. Thanks again everyone for chiming in.

And a special thanks to the Busse Crew (yes you too Skunk) for any and all the help that you've offered. Best damn knives and people on the plant!
