So I have just been on another timber getting hunt and found some Dead Finish. This Australian Hardwood has a spectacular natural pink/purple colour in the heart and a lighter sap wood. It can also have dark lines running through it. This timber is closely grained and heavy and turns well.
This is part of the Acacia family, and is also known as Purple Wood Wattle.
I'm pretty excited to have found this as the pieces that I have seen when turned up, are spectacular. This timber has come from dead trees in outback Queensland.
I haven't put any on my site yet as I only cut a few blocks this afternoon but thought I would gauge interest.
The colours in the photos don't look real...but they are. Take note of the colour of my fingers holding the pieces and you will see that it is a true representation of the timber itself. My daughter has already put in an order for a knife with a pink handle.
If anyone is interested, let me know and I can work out postage costs.

Let me know what you think,
