This is the first time I've had a problem with a deal on BF. I have bought, sold and traded dozens of knives in the past.

Here is what happened.
deadaimcarlos posted in the wanted section for 2 knives. I had one of the knives he wanted. Scans were sent. He agreed to buy the piece from me.
Communication from him was slow from the start. Allowing for work etc.,I tried to be patient. He finally commited to sending the mo on a certain day.
He didn't contact me to confirm that payment had been sent, so I emailed to confirm. His next reply confirmed shipment, a day later than stated.
I fully realise that things can happen that lead to delays, so I waited.

Without exception so far, anything mailed in the states has always reached me within 4 to 7 days. Anything longer usually means a problem. I emailed him a couple of times thinking he would be concerned and might want to trace it from his end. No responce. It has now been 10 days since he supposedly mailed the mo. I would think he would be concerned about his money if he indeed mailed it.

I know that problems with mail do happen, but do to his lack of communication,I feel that I've been duped.

Today I emailed him the following:

Due to your lack of response, I am assuming that you never sent the mo. I've sold dozens of knives on BF and have never seen a time when the buyer didn't want to make sure that payment was received.
This is the first time I've had a problem with a deal on that forum.
I will be posting the knife for sale today. I will also be posting about this in the GBU forum.
I don't want anyone else to be subjected to this treatment.
If by some chance I receive a mo from you, it will be returned to you.
I consider this matter closed.

If he had responded, I would have been more than willing to wait till any problems were solved. I long ago learned that patience is required when dealing via internet, but in the past, communication was in place.
Others here may have good experience with this individual, I can only speak for myself.

Sorry to here this. "Things" can and will come up. That's just life. But communication is the best way to keep things smooth. I hope things work out in the end. Good luck. ;)

I just hate it when people say that payment is on the way when it IS NOT!!!

How difficult is it to be honest?????

Thanks for the responces!

One additional note:

I realise that compared to some of the other horror stories, this situation is minor as I didn't lose anything. What concerns me more is that some people ship items before payment. If I didn't have a steadfast rule in that regard, I'd be screwed!
The only time I ship before pmt. is with folks that I have done past deals with.

The Bf is the ultimate enhancement to my hobby and my rep here as in life is very important to me. BF is no different than other groups, there will always be a few bad apples.

Thanks again!

Great point Tenbeers! I hold to the same rule. Payment first unless I have dealt with you before. That is one of the reasons I like Paypal so much. No lag time.
