Hi guys,

Joe Kertzman (Editor) has let me know that the deadline for this issue is Dec. 1st, 2008. They print overseas, and need to get started early.

Maker info should be updated if there are changes, photo submissions should be either a clear print (5x7 or larger) and/or a LARGE digital file (2000 pixels wide and up).

Hi Butch,

Joe has cropped the knives off of backgrounds a lot, and the end result is, he is able to include a LOT more knives per issue and per page because of this process.

That said, a neutral gray background would be the very best for this regard. I send in my photos with whatever colorful background I have used, but they are never taken specifically just for the Annual.

You mean if I submit a picture there would be a chance for me getting in the book? I'd like to give it a try.

Just to make a pitch for knife photography, Coop's tagline "It does not cost to have your knife photographed—it PAYS!" is absolutely the truth. Coop's photo of one of my knives (Danny's Axe, Coop, in case you remember it) has shown up in at least four different venues! That is the cheapest advertising you can buy, and it feels good too. ;)

Ray,

There is only one thing that makes my client's knives so popular in the book. A good clear photo provided by a CD and a print, and all the information about the knife and maker. When an editor doesn't have to jump through hoops of calls or emails to determine if a knife fits his category, it has a better chance of survival. I print all the info on a sticker pasted to the back of each image.

Tip: Note that any images in the KA without a photo credit given are submitted by the maker. There are a bunch. Go for it!!!

Thanks Dave. I really am not soliciting, but I appreciate your Vote of Confidence. :D

Yeah Coop, that's how I meant it and I hope our fellow forumites took it that way. I've used other photographers too, you just happened to give me an opportunity to say what I always say - pro photos are worth it!

I just sent my info off to Mr, Kertzman after wondering for two years why I never showed up in the llstings......lol. Hopefully. Coop's photo of my bowies will make it in under the deadline. :D
