That Caly is a good deal for $70, but how is a Caly thinner than a Delica? Moreover, the Delica has the thinner blade (2.5mm vs 3.0mm)

70 dollars is less than half what any discount store I've seen sells them at. 150 and up is the normal price. It sounds too good to be true!

I think I know what site you are talking about cause I found one for the samw price. Too bad I'm 17 and without a job.:(

Jill, the one you have is the ZDP Caly 3, with carbon fibre. It's one of Spyderco's all time best IMO, and you got a good deal on it at the marked price.

The one the OP is talking about is the FRN caly jr. in ZDP. A less expensive version of the nicer caly 3. It still retains the laser like cutting ability of the caly 3, but at less than half the price.

I hated when they stopped making them. They were in black, and the original ZDP sprint, in burgundy. That was Spyderco's first ZDP knife, very hard to find now other than at collectors prices. Worth more than the Calr jr in black, though it is essentially the same knife.

Before that there was a FRN VG10 calypso jr. , in gray color.

The Carbon fibre model like yours is by far the best quality, but the caly jr. was a great deal when they were still being produced. ZDP for about $64 back then.

regards, Joe

well u might be right but not from what people have told me....the delica i had-the grind started out in the middle of the blade......from what i know about the calypso it is a total flat grind and has a thinner edge.....ryan

joe and everyone else.....sorry if i mispoke on the model and whatnot....i'm not a huge spyderco junkie....i might have said it wrong at first....joe is right....it is the black frn handle with the clad zdp....no carbon fiber or anything.....from what i have seen this is the cheapest price...i don't care about the handle...i just wanted a nice blade and thought it was a good deal....i' llet u know wen it comes....ryan

just got the calypso jr.....unfortunately he doesn't have anyymore available....i didn't wanna link the seller till i got mine and made sure it came in a decent amount of time and was in perfect condition....very thin and very sharp knife....way more impressive than the zdp delica i had....crappier handle but way better blade.....finally got a nice little spyderco....ryan

You like the Delica handle better than the Calypso? Wow. I don't know what to say. :D

well i'll explain.....the calypso handle is black frn i guess....the delica i had was the british racing green zdp blade.....the handle on the calypso not only looks alot cheaper it feels alot cheaper too....i think they are the same material...please correct me if i'm wrong.....maybe i'm crazy.....all i know is the calypso jr is perfect for what i was looking for....thin...lightweight...nice feel in the hand.....awesome knife for the money....i'm really glad i wound up getting it.....i have only had two spyderco's....the first being the delica i just sold.....i definately willl have more down the road....ryan

That makes more sense. I thought you meant the ergonomics of the Calypso didn't feel good. I like the texture of the Delica 4 better than the Calypso Jr., but prefer the ergos of the Caly.

ok now i understand what u mean...they both feel great in the hand....i feel like the delica handle was bigger from what i can remember and the calypso doesn't have the jimping on the spine which i liked....no big deal though....ryan

I held a Caly (3), and I like the ergos of my Delica better. I don't like choils. They're so awkward.
