I just received an actual infraction for posting a link to a 40% knife sale.

Are the moderators retarded? I've been a member of this forum for a very short time, and hope to use it for valuable information into the future.

So please enlighten me why, in the name of God, it should be against the rules to "Deal Spot". Sounds like a really, really stupid rule. Whoever though of it should go into politics.

Now I suppose this post will get me another infraction. I couldn't care less, because this is retarded.

Because this forum is owned by a man that sells knives from his own store, and he makes the rules.

Perhaps you should post your questions, opinions and name-calling in Tech Support. I'm sure the mods will be happy to address them.

Mod sass is also a no-no.

I would suggest calming down - it is not worth getting upset about.

Moved from the General knife discussion forum.

As I said in my email response to you, the rules are posted and you agreed to them when you registered your account. We can't read the rules for you so it is assumed you would do this yourself. It is explained in the FAQ why we have this rule. I included the section of the FAQ that applied in the warning but it appears you didn't read that either. You can think the rule is "retarded" all you want but you will follow it just like everyone else does. Also, you got a warning....not an infraction.

This section right here makes it pretty clear; a link to a non-paying dealer doesn't support the forums very well... :thumbdn:

How does BladeForums stay open?
BladeForums.com stays open with the support of paid subscriptions by members, knifemakers and industry dealers; for a list of dealers who support this site, please see the For Sale By Dealers section of the Exchange.

While we do not currently accept monetary donations, from time to time we will have Support Auctions, where the proceeds are used to purchase new equipment & infrastructure for the site. If you are a manufacturer & would like to make a contribution to this, or work in the IT field and would like to contribute servers, load balancers and other related equipment, please contact us and we'll be happy to discuss our requirements.

I'll just lurk here for info. It's obvious this is another "member clique" forum.

By the way, no one pays for forum accounts. It's 2013, boys. Information is only a click away, and it doesn't have to be here.

Take care, fellas.

You don't have to be a member on the forums, you also agreed to certain terms upon becoming a member. Would deal spotting be nice? You bet! But, them be the rules.

As far as paying for member accounts... there are tons of forums that work the same way. :p  Some that are not nearly as helpful and informative as these forums too.

You need to a paid account here to do any business involving money. If you want to sell or do business here, you need a paid account. The information is free....take as much as you can carry.

Typical response, know the rules, break them, bitch that there are consequences for breaking them. Get back on your meds sir!

It's even worse when you agree to the rules, and then complain when you break them. OP has never gotten in trouble before? You broke a rule, so just don't do it again, pull your boot straps up, and continue using the forum. It's not a personal attack against you. :P

Awesome, I always wanted to be in a clique! I don't care if there are 17,842 active members in it, the guy said it's a clique and he sounds like he is an expert on lots of stuff.

Before joining this forum I had only been a member of 2 automotive forums. And on both of them people were always posting deals, and links to auctions, and pretty much doing everything that is against the rules here. Everyone had a good time on those forums.

Now, when I joined here, I was very surprised to learn about all these rules, and didn't quite understand them (I still can't say I do). But It's a great place to get information, and the people are cool, so whatever, I deal with it.

A lot of the rules are retarded. But I guess its for a reason... I hope. Like asking about the value, who freakin cares!

Uh, the correct word is special needs, not retarded, and I don't think it applies to the mods or other members. This is the least clique-ish site I've been a member of, but some basic civility and understanding of the rules is expected.

You're right. It's for a reason. Valuations are not allowed because some mentally challenged members decided they would use the valuation to hint at selling in the discussion forums without the proper membership. A rule was made to circumvent the practice.
One may not like the rules or agree with them, but there is reason behind each and every one. All here agreed to abide by them by registering an account.

Deal spotting in itself is not bad. But, the rules are rules that the forum owner has set forth, and are a part of the privilege of participating on here. His football, his rules. Simple as that. If you spot a good deal and want to share with someone, then send them a PM. You do not have to broadcast and advertise to everyone for a supplier that does not support this forum with their input or their money and or resources. Simple, and makes sense to me. You are new, so now you know. Besides they were nice enough to just give you a warning. Grow up and enjoy the free information on here.

Blessings.

Omar
