Deal Spotting - Against the Rules

You're right. It's for a reason. Valuations are not allowed because some mentally challenged members decided they would use the valuation to hint at selling in the discussion forums without the proper membership. A rule was made to circumvent the practice.
One may not like the rules or agree with them, but there is reason behind each and every one. All here agreed to abide by them by registering an account.

Makes sense. Now I know!

This is the only forum I have ever joined. The members here are helpful and fairly civil. The wealth of knowledge here is unmatched on the interweb. If you don't like the rules, go somewhere else.

I'll just lurk here for info. It's obvious this is another "member clique" forum.

By the way, no one pays for forum accounts. It's 2013, boys. Information is only a click away, and it doesn't have to be here.

Take care, fellas.

This is not a member clique, these forums have been around for 15 years for a reason. It also happens to be the absolute largest forum of it's kind on the planet to date, again for a reason. You really must not have been on many forums at all, since there are absolutely dozens of forums out there that sell memberships to pay the bills, it's not free.

The "Deal Spotting" rule is in place to protect the investment of our highest paying vendor members, the dealers.
They pay to do business here. Links to outside vendors whom do not pay to sell here are competing with and infringing upon their right to do business here. Pretty simple, really.

To the OP. If you think you can find the information and buying opportunities that you find on Blade Forums on other free websites then good luck. I haven't found any that compare to Blade Forums. I actually got a 1 year 10 point infraction for "deal spotting" after being a member for only a few days and that was for pointing out a fake CRK on Ebay as a warning. Hasn't stopped me from benefiting greatly from Blade Forums over the past year....

I would suggest you take a minute to consider that the world is not yours alone, and this forum has an owner. This is by far the best source for knife knowledge, the only requirements to interact with that knowledge is a small level of respect, and a dose of humility. Neither of which you appear to have mastered. Observe for a while, and when that dose of humility kicks in, feel free to interact.

^^^ This.

I was a member here for months reading, watching, learning etc. how things operate on BFC before I posted anything...

Smashtoad's modus operandi must be to just dive in everywhere he goes and do what ever he wants without really bothering to understand what the rules of engagement are. :foot::thumbdn:

You do that.
I doubt anyone cares for your crappy attitude anyways.

Waaaaaaaahhhh!!!
Don't let the cyber door smack you on the way out.

We got members here who are tougher in real life than you are behind your keyboard.
They know more, they do more, they help out, and each of them is his or her own clique.

Live and learn. You too could grow up to be a real human being some day.

Anyway, it's better to be a clique than a cliche.

Nope. I was a member for 6 years before buying a membership & lurked even longer. This is the least "member clique" type of forum I've seen so far. But you're crying over a warning after 6 posts & don't have any legitimate complaint, so hey, just pick a random insult & hope it applies, right?

Also, no one pays to post or get information here. You know that you didn't. How the hell did you fail to notice this before making that petulant little post? In the future, use more reason & less teen angst when posting, & in the meantime, think about what sort of man you want to be when you grow up.

Deal spotting specifically came into being when a certain dealer got banned from the site and used shills to hawk their wares here.

He's not banned.
