E-mail sent on one of the JKM-1s. Great utility knife to hang on the belt. The one I got while in Afghanistan was made by Sanu, it cut all sorts of stuff over there and it still takes whatever I can dish out for it. Give me about a hundred and fifty years, and I could probably wear it out.:D

How durable are those JKM all leather sheaths?

They're okay Bruise, but not near as durable as the JKM itself. Mine's on it's third sheath, just from being constantly on my belt and working like a dog in the field. Not a problem, it's a relatively small knife with a simple shape, so I can hand stitch a good cowhide sheath for it in about a half hour.

Being a resident of an urban jungle I have no such home steading skills. Are there any sites I can go to for learning how to stitch leather?

I'm actually not sure where to get slabs of leather for stitching. Maybe I'll go visit my brother and "borrow" a piece from one of his jackets. :)

Not a problem Bruise, here's a link to a style of sheath that would work fine for the JKM-1, and best of all it's made from a single piece of leather without stitching http://www.primitiveways.com/pt-knifesheath.html

It doesn't get much simpler, and it makes a good looking sheath. But sheaths aren't that big a deal for small, straight bladed knives like the JKM-1. If you're thinking of grabbing up that other one by Shanker, go for it. If you don't like it (which I seriously doubt will happen) I'll buy it off of you and give it to young "Wheels" to make his hog hunting really interesting.:D :p

Good stuff. I think you should grab the JKM, Bruise. If not, I'll have to. Must resist and save up for Khonvention.

This is driving me nuts. That 20" Sher AK is just what I have been needing. Something tough, heavy and totally chopping centered, and something I can not hurt chopping wood with. If Uncle Bill could take three monthly payments of 50.00 I could do it.:footinmou So sad:( Oh well such is life...........

I'll probably get one of those next. I ordered one of them fancy red Kumar Kardas recently and it hasn't come in yet. But those JKMs look really handy to have around for cuttin' stuff. :)

Thanks for the link. I'll have to try that eventually. I'll give my brother a call and then go get my scissors. :D

Bruise, I have an old pair of black hi-top Georgia boots whose soles are beyond salvage. I explicitly saved them so I could use the leather uppers to make neck-knife sheaths. I'd be happy to send you one if you want. They don't smell THAT bad... :D

They were good boots, but I just couldn't do nuthin to save their souls...

Thanks for the offer. :(

However, it just doesn't seem right to have someone's smelly old boot hanging from their neck.
:D
