Very nice stuff up for grabs today. Love the BDC, I guess it's another one to add to the pile, eh Eric:D

15" is an odd size for a kobra.

CONGRATS eric on that bdc... beautiful piece :)
im digging that cak... i like the handle :D

Did that CAK sell? Nice to see a standard bolster from Sher. That is a wonderful knife. I already have a chandan Kumar CAK with those specs, or I would be all over this, but this handle is even nicer. (He should have just skipped the handle rings though and kept it smooth...!)

BTW, 37 oz. is very heavy for an 18" BDC. My antler one is 31 oz. Bet it will make a nice chopper though.

Shown in today's DOD is what is labeled a Chitlangi CAK. Is this a typo or can someone explain what is "Chitlangi" like about Sgt.'s CAK?

Wait, I think I have it figured out. It's the handle/butt plate treatment right?

I was trying to figure it out too, I came to the buttcap solution as well.

Interesting to point out, but not enough to give it a name change, IMHO. :)

Also, notice it is a "Sgt. Style" AK by Sher. :)

Eric.

yep i think she is referring to the buttcap :)
ive noticed quite a few hybrid khuks popping up lately :D

I wonder who got the Kobra. I had one just like it delivered yesterday. I must say that in the hand of a trained person, I think the 15" Kobra would have to be absolutely lethal. Short enough to use indoors and light enough to permit fast recovery. This may be the most practical kuk I own.

What is a "Sgt. Style" CAK? What does he do differently?

That is a good question. My thoughts all have to do with the handle. It has a larger flair to the buttcap area, in general and the Sgt. did do one without the raised handle rings. (I would not call that a Sgt. feature, though.)

Sgt. also uses the standard bolster, whereas most HI AKs use the habaki bolster (although that has changed recently, too.)

Also there is a slight curve to the handle, the Sgt does that, but HI has a lot of straight handled AKs, in general.

Sher did not use the larger handle pins that the Sgt. uses.

The blade shape just says AK to me, not Sgt. AK, but it would not look out of place to me on the Sgt. AKs.

Eric.

hmmmm im not sure on this cak...
but i own both a 16" cak and a 16" khadka cak and there is a difference in the blade geometry

i will try to post pics tonight
