Deals for 10/18 -- Pix and awesome buys

""195$ for the full sized manjushree sword.

This one looks like it would require less materials and work, does it not?""

Hmmm....

! :D

-If- it were available on the shopping site,
comparable-length swords are $245.
The manjushree probably deserves a small premium above that.

& that trisul looks particularely nice.

The Ms. Yangdu's special forum offers
tend to bias our perception of HI blade values.

And even 'perfect' blades have some discount here.

Sometimes she's feeling extra, extra generous on prices.

----------addition

in a recent DoD thread
ms yangdu sold a manju-shree for $140
marked as YBB*****

you betcha !!!

[the trisul here is not marked as a BestBuy
so it's just HI's current forum price
for a bigger trisul than usual by at least 4" & 5oz.

? is this the first 19" trisul ?]

Yipee! It's a done deal according to Yangdu. I got my first smatchet today and the blade is made of high carbon steel and made by Himilayan Imports. Did I do good or what?

It waited around for me since noon today, until I came home and set down to my computer this evening and there it was. Not a hard decision to jump on this deal just like a chicken on a june bug and gobble it right down. It also reminded me of a shark striking real hard on something he had his eye on in the deep blue sea. Sure felt good. He,he,he.

Sure is a good looking smatchet to me!

Thankyou Yangdu,

J. W. Kilpatrick

The bible tells us that Samson killed a 1000 Philistines with the jaw bone of a donkey. Man, if he would of had this Himilayan Imports smatchet in his hand, I believe that he would have been able to take out every warrior that the Philistines would have been to place on the battle field. He probably would have been able to take out a few hungry bears also, since he was such a strong and powerful man.

That YCS is fantastic, by the way.

Danny, this is 18" and 32 oz., and the average Manjushri's are 27.5" and 32 oz., so the material amounts are the same. And I would say that shaping this blade and handle is at least as involved as the larger sword, although the carving on the Manjushri I'm sure adds more time.

I look at it not that this is more expensive for the same amount of material, but that the Manjushri's are just great bargains. A 2-pound piece of hand made steel and exotic hardwood in a custom red-leather scabbard for ...$195?!!!?

I was on this sale 2 minutes after Yangdu posted it, and if I had had the bread JW wouldn't have gotten within shouting distance of this one! :D (Although other than disembowling enemy sentries, I don't know what I would use it for offhand, but hell, that never stopped me before. ;) )

Nice snag JW, and please let us know what you think of it. I'll add it to my HI wish list...

Regards,

Norm

An HI Smatchet! I thought. With nice guards!

Alas...I had no money...and was too late...but I hope the owner loves her and relates his experiences with her to us. :) Nice snag!

Hey, Norm

It should be obvious what this smatchet should be used for. I am going to be sure to tie it on my hip when I go into the woods to hug the bears. That way if a bear decides to hug me back, I don't have to look for a frying pan to hit him with. I can pull out this two pound smatchet and bust his skull wide open.

I was on this forum untill 1pm....and this DOTD came up at 1:10 pm.

Dang ! The YCS looks so good. Look at those inlaid handles ! $175 for 2 knifes and the Khuk for free (as somebody had said).

*sniff* *bangs head on wall*

I sharked the WWII, giving me one each of my favorite model, size and composition by the kami triumverate of Bura, Kumar and Sher. :)

Then, I thought about 34 oz. at 18" - almost Sher Legend Thickness from Kumar... And it was still there.... And the tough zombies around my house are now quakin' in their boots...

Smatchet is awesome. It looks a lot like a shorter version of the welsh trench knife Danny displayed earlier... An extended blade Welsh guards model from HI would not be unwelcome...

"18" and 32 oz???
IS that right?
Seems awfully heavy, sucker must be 1/2" thick!"

yesterday Ms Yangdu corrected the trisul's listed weight to 19 oz

the "inch per ounce" region

Sweet lord! the kenpo khukuri returns!!

whatthe.jpg

I have one of those kenpo khuks and kind of thought that too, but the smatchet is more accurate.

You should have a song prepared too, for backup.
