Deals for 2/15 --Pix, YCS Dui Chirra and Good Buys

FYI, the ones I did get are 99% identical to the leather sheath that comes with the Cold Steel Carbon V coated blade kukri (with kraton handle). The only obvious difference is the helpful addition of the second snap.
P.S. Just reread the KMF sheath thread and linked threads and see just the 1 sheath mentioned. ? Think I have two of the "deep belly" guys, and the other might be better for smaller more curvy knives like a hanshee or balance... If anyone can point me to a pic / description of the second type I would appreciate it!

Best, -N.

They shouldnt be 99% identical, because they are the old Cold Steel sheaths from when Camillus went outta business. Steve Tall was able to find auntie a bulk lot of them for the KEMF. I don't think a hanshee or balance will fit these.

Here is a pic, norm.

I was Informed that the bottom sheath in the picture may not be available.
Auntie originally only had a few of these to begin with.
Sorry for adding to the confusion. :o:o:o:o

Well, I wrote to her asking about a "second" model and sent PP and she said she would send one, so I certainly hope we are talking about the same one as in your bottom pic, otherwise I'm going to end up with 4 of the same thing!

As far as the Cold Steel vs. Camillus though? (Talking about the top model in your pic.) I may be misunderstanding your point, but they are dimensionally exact, really. The only difference (other than the second snap) is that the lanyard loop at the bottom is just a tiny bit different (the CS is more flush), and the rivets might be a bit smaller and have a different finish to them. They are both the same leather. I can take pics, but the only reason every knife listed in the KMF thread won't fit in the CS sheath is because it doesn't have the second snap. For instance, a 16.5" AK will pull out of the CS sheath, or the Camillus sheath on the first snap, but will be retained by the second snap on the HI variant.

I was thinking a hanshee or balance on the second sheath in your pic, not the first. I am saving those first ones for my "deep belly" blades.

Regards,

Norm

Jumped in on the BAS and managed to get it.
I was really surprised that it wasn't taken.
I figured I was a day too late.
My collection grows and I think HIKV has struck.
I wonder what the doctor would prescribe to treat this ailment?

Norm, you should come with a dose of advil when you post.:p :D
Camillus used to make the Cold Steel khukuri KLO thingamabob. These AFAIK are leftovers from when Camillus went outta business in 2007 IIRC. They are pretty much the same sheath. Yours could possibly be newer or made by a different vendor. What you're getting from auntie? i don't know and i wish i hadnt opened my big darn mouth. Steve Tall installed the extra snap on the deep bellied ones before sending them to auntie.

AFAIK, Auntie only had about 5 or so of the bottom sheath and isnt planning on getting more as she has a boatload of the top one still. GET YOURS NOW!!!:D:thumbup::D

I have bought more khuks and am watching the DotD--- oh no I have HIKV and there is no known cure.
Treatment options are not covered under my medical plan so this may require working overtime to meet the treatment demands.
More work = more khuks---- now overtime doesn't seem so bad.

Some people show no outward sign, others get all bug eyed from refreshing the screen and watching for the deal.... some itch and scratch like they need a fix. The only thing these two share is a shriveled wallet full of cobwebs. ;) :D

Got it (finally) thanks! And sorry for the disconnect. My CS may be a bit older than the batch Steve snagged, as it is just cosmetically different. The second snap is worth getting a couple of spares in any case, which I did. Hopefully I'll be able to snag one of the second style as well, as there are a couple of blades it looks like it would fit better.

Best,

Norm

Well, I asked for the second model as specified here, and got another of the original today, so now I have 3 of the exact same sheaths! Obviously the second angled model must not be available anymore so I just got more of the same. Oh well, have plenty of knives to sheath so this just saves me the drudgery of having to pull one knife out and insert another one. ;)

Thank goodness I didn't ask for _two_ of the "new style".:D
