Yes, it is just a non-chiruwa model ASTK.

I don't know much about this ASTK. I really like the looks of it. I'm guessing the chiruwa version is around 32 oz.? So now I just need to get one of these like today and I'll be set. And maybe one of the chiruwa models. And a Deradune, which seems to have a similar blade but different handle. And a Tamang, which I missed somehow. Maybe just one or two more? Then I'll never have a need to buy another HI knife again, right?

So, you just sell off 20 so you can buy 20 more? LOL. I ended up with both a Deradune (36 oz?) and a Chiruwa ASTK which I think is about 40 oz. They are very similar, but the Deradune is more front heavy a bit (a bit more narrow near the handle, I think). I don't know, even holding them side by side I wasn't able to much distinguish between them.

I just needed one for each hand.

Is an Amar Singh Thapa Knife without it's distinctive pinning and a non chiruwa handle still an ASTK? I think it's a nice looking knife; but I'm just not sure this is the right classification. Three nice choices today.

To the best of my knowledge I bought one of the first few ASTK's and it was a non-chiruwa tang Khukuri.

I really really like the idea of a non chiruwa ASTK. Mine is a chiruwa, and I've said before that it doesn't agree with me. Perhaps I need a non-chiruwa to compare with in order to give the General's model a proper chance.
