I happened to click on here within a minute of the DOTD being posted and I'm too poor until payday to do anything about it.

It's my wife's birthday today. I should totally buy the bonecutter for her:p Nothin' says "Happy 30th, Little Lady!" like a piece of Nepali steel....which she would then use on me:o My wife adores HI and all the things it does for the people of Nepal. However, me buying her a khuk is tantamount to a guy buying his wife a bowling ball (who doesn't bowl).

Lovely blades, the lot of them. I have a 15" ASTK that is exceptional in the camping knife role, and it goes without saying how I feel about the Farm Knife;)

I really like the blade on the ASTK, and am definitely leaning on going with an ASTK as my next khuk. I need to stop looking because each day it gets harder and harder to not buy another knife (and I haven't even received my first yet ;)).

If that ASTK is anything like mine it's a winner. The ASTK is...well, I dunno how else to describe it other than hatchet-like. They tend to have a very stout spine that tapers down to a very fine edge. very V shaped in you look at them point-on. The chiruwa handle balances the blade nicely so the end result is a nearly weight neutral blade that will bite deeply when you chop yet does not give you the sensation of swinging a sledgehammer.

Very cool design, and one of my favorites of the newer designs to come out of the shop:thumbup:

I agree. I would seriously consider this one, but I am pretty sure the wife would use it on me for getting two in the same week.

On that note, I just received the GR/BC I bought. I am very pleased with it and I think it looks even better in person.

I'm partial to this Bonecutter. The blade reminds me of a pilot's knife, kinda foreshortened. With the weight it has out front, it probably has the chopping power of a longer, pointier blade. (Good thing I bought a couple already :))

Somehow the profile of the tip reminded me of Ghopte, one of the better chopper in HI's range.

Bhakta's model....

I have notice that the farm knife stlye blade has been up for offers for more than once. I would like to ask: would it be possible to see that kind of knife to enter the webshop as a new item?
I do admit that I quite like the design.

Welcome, welcome, Zixnus:thumbup:

To be honest, the order site could probably use a major overhaul in terms of what is available. However, most folks just seem to gravitate toward the forum and see what's available.

As far as liking the design, HI has knocked it out of the park as far as i'm concerned. These blades are freakishly awesome:D:thumbup:

I went to the post office to pick up my farm knife today and it was closed!
Oh well i will set up a leather stropping block for it tonight.I don't know if
it will even need to be sharpended though. This is my first HI blade.
I want to get a survival and then a kuk. From what i have been hearing
the steel is very good.Do they hold an edge well with moderate use?

Dont cha just hate government holidays when you are expecting a package;)?

The FK typically comes pretty dang sharp. I flayed my finger out of the box, and I'm a guy who can get an edge fairly scary sharp.

I MIGHT need a slight stoning here or there, but generally a good loaded strop and she'll pop hair like crazy. Yes, they will hold a pretty good edge:D:thumbup:

Actually, I would prefer to buy a Chiruwa Ang Kola (what does Chiruwa mean btw?) but I see a nice simplicity in the design of the farm knife. It looks a bit more like a machete, but the curve probably allows more farm-specific (softer?) tasks.

Welcome, welcome, Zixnus

:)
Thanks.
