There's another Seax for someone.

Dil is "new-ish" not one that has been around forever, but maybe a couple years. He makes a nice blade:)

Is himimp@aol.com the right E-Mail address for ordering these things?

I could buy a hatchet for camp chores, but these seem much more interesting tools to own & use. Mmmmm - choppers!

They'll do more than a hatchet, too. Take that 13" Chiruwa Ang Khola, for instance. It's ready for camping.

I can attest to this. Used to carry a machete (for bush clearing) and hatchet (for chopping and splitting fire wood) for camping. Both have been replaced by a kukri which can do the tasks of both equally well. All my kukris outchop my old hatchet actually :)

Add to that a light hacksaw blade and your woodwork is done.

I considered that, but I'll take the 15" Ganga Ram instead. I think I can manage to take it on a camping trip or 3.

The 2" additional length is certainly welcome, but then there is a tradeoff of 6 more ounces of weight and the handle style is perhaps marginally weaker (that is debatable and has been debated a lot on this forum). I personally am not a fan of hidden tangs, but with H.I. products I admit that it probably won't matter until you do a destruction test on it (which I consider on par with a death in the family).

I consider a design which theoretically COULD fail but in practice is more that strong enough and will not fail as not a problem at all. I take care of my gear and it lasts well unless poorly designed - so I am not concerned.

My SAK would not be as strong as my new Ganga Ram - but after almost a decade the pen still writes and I have not lost or broken any part of it. I still have the pen, toothpick, tweezers, stainless steel pin, small screwdriver that fits in the corkscrew and 4 screwdriver bits (Victorinox Cybertool).

I intend to take care of my Ganga Ram and keep it sharp - and feed it some wood whenever I can to keep it happy.

I wouldn't have minded buying the Chiruwa Ang Khola as well for a smaller lighter chopper - but my budget is a bit tight at the moment. I also wouldn't mind adding the standard Chiruwa Ang Khola (~18") for a bigger heavier chopper - but maybe later when the finances allow. I can't think of why owning more HI products would be a bad thing.

Actually if I could afford it I would have been tempted to buy all these deals except for the kerambit (not really my thing), they really are nice and well priced for hand made knives.

I should hope so; HI has a reputation to keep up!

Anyway, with the recent turnover (unfortunate thought it was), maybe it'll be Dil's time to shine.

maybe it'll be Dil's time to shine.

If someone had beaten me to the Ganga Ram then Dil's CAK would have already sold! (or as I mentioned - if I could afford 2 new knives)

I am sure someone soon will snatch up that CAK and they can let us know what they think of Dil's work.

Ganga Ram Special is ready for camp, too. A good choice and a good chopper. It'll give you years of service-probably a lifetime.
Owning more isn't a bad thing at all. Enjoy.

Is this right, with the new shipping the R-3 is 75.00, and the Seax is 145.00 correct? Or is the shipping included?

I think the standard Chiruwa AK per the shopping site is usually closer to 16.5" or at most 17", at least mine is, and I can't say enough good things about it. Multiple other lengths have popped up on DOTD however, even up to 25" monsters for the Conan types.

Shipping is no longer included in the price.

Yangdu will email you the shipping cost when you email her that you'll take an item.

Looks like it's a sale on the little dudes with attitudes, today. I wonder if that means tomorrow will be giant ones?

I don't know if the CAK really has a "standard" size. There's just the one listed on the shopping site, but they seem to be commonly made in the same sizes as traditional handle AKs.
