That M43 is Perfect! Love the curvy handled ones. If my tax return was here, that would be mine!! Oh well, I know that it will find a good home. ;) Khukri's tend to do that.

Sent email on the 16.5 inch WW2.
Now if the planets align, rub my rabbits foot, and I click my ruby slippers, I might get lucky and win this one.

WOW! What a wonderful selection today! Get one, get them all.

But seriously, if you are out camping (even hiking if you don't mind the weight), any of these will make a great chopper. But if you don't have a WW II yet, get this beauty right now. You will thank me later and you will sell every other knife in your collection before that one!

Edit: Good luck, JOE68!

Edit2: That is a very reasonable weight for such a long M-43, at least considering the most recent offerings of the model.

GAH I wish I had money.

I'd trade well for that Gelbu if anybody sharks it and doesn't want it.

Less than 1 ounce per inch.
Way to hammer them out, Rajkumar!:)

Wouldn't be bad at all if the spine is 3/8". Yesterday's GS at 20 oz. looked light. I hope whomever gets this one will tell us more about it. Happy hunting, all.

Peace

Rajkumar is coming close to the specs of the original GS inspiration on this one.

Uhudaipurkhuk.jpg

The village Udhaipur pictured above is 16” long and 14 oz. The blade is about 5/16 thick at back and about 1.5 wide. This was the original inspiration for the GS. I've been using it for years and it's still one of my favorite knives.

Wow I am really digging the very business like Sword of Shiva on these. While I like the ones with scroll work and brass inlay, I much prefer the simpler lines:)

+1

While the ornate ones have a certain appeal; I too prefer these simple lines.

Thanks for the info on your Udhaipur Howard. I remember that you got the only one that I'd heard of but didn't know the specs. As a result, I take back my previous post...except for the Happy Hunting. (i'll bet your Udhaipur is good on the lighter vegetation Howard. The Gelbu Special is one of my favorites. The one that I have made by Sher is a good chopper, lightweight extension of my arm.)

Peace

Email sent for Gelbu special. Can't believe it was still here with all the positive comments made! I needed a nice light one! Darn hikv, thought I was cured:D

Update: Got it! Sorry gatogordo, our emails must've been within a minute of each-other.

18 inch 33 ounce villager fit and finish Chirwa Ang Khola by Tirtha.

Just to be sure: this is a 18" (overall? what is the blade length?) Chiruwa Ang Khola (same warrantry as for a regular one?) with a villager fit and finish? For 145$? And with the usual two extra small knives?

An even better warranty. It is also warranted for use as a prybar!
And yes, it is overall length, and comes with the 2 knives also. Actually one isn't a knife but a field sharpener.
I have an ang kola the same size and I love it.

So it is a longer Chiruwa ang khola (with the same warranty as a regular CAK, standard sheath + karda and chakma) , with the same warranty, just with less fancy fit and finish?

Man, I wanted to save buying one from here till my birthday in summer, but that one sounds too ideal. How do I bid? What e-mail do I send to?

EDIT: Also, I'm going to be in my seat, refreshing the page and looking at my inbox for at least an hour instead of going to bed. Damn HI for their excellent offers! :)

Welcome Zixinus !
Yes, H.I. khukuri are measured in "overall" length. The blade on an 18" khukuri is approximately 12". Yes,Chiruwa AK is warranted as prybar. Comes with scabbard, karda (small knife),chakmak (burnisher). Send Email to HIMIMP@aol.com with name, forum name, address, item wanted and intended method of payment. Then Wait for Yangdu to respond with and invoice including shipping before sending your payment.

Hello Zixinus,
All HI knives are quoted at overall length (or OAL) as you guessed, measured in a straight line tip to back. On a longer model like this one, I would expect the handle to be about 6" leaving 12" for the blade (measured to the guard, not to the cho). If you get a 16" or 17" knife, then you can expect the handle to be a bit shorter at around 5", but there is always a large variance.

And, yes, the prices on this forum are really tempting. Some of the kuks today don't come with the little karda and chakmak so you always have to look at the pictures to check.

Edit: Karda beat me to it.
