... (i'll bet your Udhaipur is good on the lighter vegetation Howard. The Gelbu Special is one of my favorites. The one that I have made by Sher is a good chopper, lightweight extension of my arm.)

Indeed it is good on light vegetation. I wrote a review in the old FAQ about using it on blackberry vines.

Don't sell it short on chopping though. Here's a story I haven't told. A few years back I was at one of Ron Hood's backwoods get togethers. I brought numerous khukuris, including big GR and AK types that were seeing duty splitting firewood for the camp. Of course, the other folks all had knives too. Busse's, Tops, and all other types of modern wonders. Someone said "lets have a chopping contest with knives!" but when I approached with my khukuris they booted me out, saying it wouldn't be fair for me to use my big choppers. After looking at the little Udhaipur they relented, and said that little khukuri, but no other, could enter the competition. It held it's own with every other entrant. While the throng wouldn't declare the little khukuri the chopping victor, the consensus was that it was the equal of any other blade competing.

Another fan of the GS here ... intend to get a custom order made once things get back to as 'normal' as possible in Nepal. :D

Already emailed Yangdhu. Still waiting for another response after he answered a few questions.

Yangdu is a lady.

Quite a lady.

Always best to stay on her good side. :)

Gah, apologies (got her mixed up with her father somehow) in advance. :(

Still waiting for a response to settle details (or perhaps she is scanning the invoice in). I'm going to bed now.

That M43 is Perfect! Love the curvy handled ones. If my tax return was here, that would be mine!! Oh well, I know that it will find a good home. ;) Khukri's tend to do that.

Bingo. I still don't dig the heavier khuks, but that curved handle looks brilliant. Longer than average too!

Got the email to confirm I won the WW2 model.
No sense buying a lottery ticket this week because I just used up my luck quotient.:)
Now to wait for its arrival---- that's hard to do.
Feels like Christmas every time I open the triangle box so the wait is worth it.:D

You've got to move pretty fast if you want to win in this forum.
Nice WW2, good score.

Congrats!

If you still feel like a child on Christmas, you are still safe. I remember those days of my HIKV. If you start feeling like addict about to get your fix, then it is too far gone... far too far gone... then only winning the lottery might save a knife fanatic's wallet. The only problem then will be: which kuks to save in case of an earthquake? Decisions, decisions.

...because a big guy with a small knife and a frown is still less scary than a small lady with a big knife and a smile.

Reminded me of Auntie's 15" Sirupati story on her night bus ride.

I can't stand it any longer...
Email sent on the M43.

Edit: oops...
Still getting the hang of this and overlooked cop911's bid earlier today.
I may have missed my chance, this time.
Nice Khuk.

Still waiting for a responce... :(

I really hope that I can manage stop buying after this. I've already brought a (to my dissapointment, non-full-tang but still neat) dagger elsewhere and I am burning what little money I have for this kind of thing.

EDIT: She responded. :)
Now I just have to manage the payment to go trough for her and I should be seeing the package next week or so.

Zixinus,

Welcome to the forum.
You are going to love the CAK, the HI knives are incredible.

Too true. My HIKV affliction began about 9 months ago, and although I managed to sniffle through the first 4 or 5 months, the last 4+ months have seen my wallet developing an ulcer. This M43 will replace one I gave to my brother for his deployments (civvie EOD contractor), brings me to 10, and I have a hard time figuring which I really like better. My BAS gets more carry time, as it fits into my bags, for light clearing, etc. Still looking for another Karambit (the C-bit).
Now I have to begin parting with some of the knives I've been dragging around the country the last 10-15 years, partly to pay for HIKV, but also, as I just need to cut back (who needs to carry 4-8 folders?).

Yangdu is holding unto the CAK for me. :)
I can't wait. This will be my most expensive knife as of yet. I can't wait to do some stuff with it and show it off.

Sent email on the 16.5 inch WW2.
Now if the planets align, rub my rabbits foot, and I click my ruby slippers, I might get lucky and win this one.

They are all great, but if I could pick just one sharp cutter/workhorse it would be the WW2. Nice snag!

Can't believe the dimensions on that Villager M-43 BTW. 19.5" and 35 oz.! Longest I've ever seen was an 18" and that was 33 oz. by Vim from 2008 (except for two 20" specials about 6 years ago). Tirtha is also giving a decent sized handle here; some of the older ones were a bit shorter, and he adds handle rings as well. Interesting.

The majority of Kumar's were all 17" and about 26 oz., and I have one from Sanu (also with rings that belonged to Rusty) that is even lighter.

Nice knife!
