Deals for 2/27 --Pix, and Great Knives by Thamar, Padam and Yuvraj

Agreed! It's a Hanshee and I did hit the jackpot! I have been waiting for a Hanshee for almost a year now. I have a early 1800's style Chhetri kukri that has a very similar drop to the blade. I love the Thamar curve spine, but I absolutely adore Hanshees. Boy oh boy I am one lucky fella!

Thanks again Auntie for offering up my dream kukri. I can't wait to inspect it. Does anyone else, beside the Dr. and I think it's a Hanshee?

A Hanshee doesn't have that much belly to it, least ways the ones I've seen. If it maintained that depth in front of the cho for the full length it would be a Hanshee.

But it is very Hansheeish in many ways and if its a Hanshee to you then by golly it's a Hanshee.

And Cul, never say your sorry to me ever, I mean never. I'll get over it in a few years and it'll be nothing but a distant memory.
Really, I'm fine.

What he said! It does have a lot of drop to it tho. Im thinking it should handle very nicely. Since its not a chiruwa handle it will be interesting to see how the balance is. I personally like the traditional handles like that better than the long western chiruwa handles. Now the short chiruwa handles with extra drop are another story. They feel much like the balance of the traditional handles with a bit more forward weight. Subtle differences but for extended chopping it becomes very noticeable.
For that reason yours may just be a little better than Bawannas and Bookies...just a little;)
Put the dang dolls up now doc:eek:

Good grab cul! Great little knife:thumbup:

So your saying GB's curved spine is more gooder than mine which is more gooder than Bookies?

I gotta quit hanging with Doc, I'm starting to talk like him, and I have this urge to pound red hot steel and fly mix masters.

Musta got my wires crossed:D You dont have any of them dolls do ya?

I see what you are saying Bawanna... It does have a bit more belly than the partial tang Hanshee shown in the catalog. I remember the Thamar curved spines that you guys have and it differs greatly. It's more of a traditional style. I prefer the standard handles over the chiruwa too Ndog. They just feel better in the hand

True. The traditional drop down small handle would not work for you. As I recall you have very large hands.
This one while giving similar pleasing lines offers a much larger workable handle for you. A win win for sure.

And while it has Hanshee like lines or similar anyhow it probably is a bit more of a chopper quality wise.

Again a win win.

GB:

You got a very nice blade there. Not only the amount of drop, but also the pointiness of the tip. However, not a hanshee.

For comparison, here are photos of two hanshees. The first is from 2012 (made by Lok Kami, 18" and 22oz).

The second (made by Sher Kami, 18.5" and 23oz) is older, previously owned and modified by a forumite, the late Danny Fletcher. He blued the blade (and handle) and narrowed the butt.

Thanks for the picture. I see the difference now... The Hanshee seems lighter and more hollowed forged. The weight on the two examples you show are on the light side for a chopper but perfect for a fighter.

I guess you were right Bawanna, it's kinda a hybrid of the two. It resembles a Hanshee and a Curved Spine, I get the best of both worlds. Thanks for the help guys!

EMS on the 10 inch 7 ounce Western style Knife by Yuvraj. Antler handle. Great knife at $88.

Sorry Bawanna....I couldn't resist any longer. Hopefully, it's still there.

Wife will probably try to skin me with it, but I'll just keep my running shoes on for a few days.

Congrats Cul! That is one beauty, should make a nice addition to you HI knife collection. You have a few of their knives now. I love the Crow you got a couple months ago. Let us know how it is when you get it.

Actually it has some Shamshir in it as well. The wedge "V" shape and thick edge profile as well as the drop! You got the best of three worlds:thumbup:
