Deals for 3/02 -- Pix, D-handled Khukuri and rare one

haven't noticed, but have PKs come through with wood handles? color me leery, but buffalo horn doesn't always do it for me.

Sure, there have been plenty of wood handled pen knives. But, overall, I think there are more in horn than wood.

And, I'm glad to see, that after a half year of too short handles, the handles are getting longer.

Eric.

That's the pointiest Pen Knife I've seen, maybe ever. While there are some wood and maybe even antler Pen Knives, the majority are in horn. Have no fear, they make great handles.

I'm just chuckling at the thread title: "Deals for 3/02 -- Pix, D-handled Khukuri and rare one". As if the D-handled one isn't rare...

That's a good eye there Eric! You're right. I have one wood handled pen from way back that is nice but way too short for me. A villager from 4-5 months ago is better, but this one looks just right.

Norm, I have both a wood and a horn, what is the length of yours? Mine feel very good. Got from HI website within the last three months.
4.25 on the horn, 4.3875 on the wood.

It looks like no one noticed the Pen knife.
I've been wanting one of those for a while now!
Yipee! Hopefully it is still available.

Dick my first (older) horn one is right at 4". I had a nice satisal wood 12" that I sold a few months ago and it was about the same. A more recent horn villager is about 4 3/8". With my hands that seems to make quite a bit of difference. They are both nice, but that extra little bit makes them more comfortable.

I also have a 12" stag model that also has a slightly shorter handle, but it is so pretty I don't care. (-:

I also think Eric is correct, and there have been more horn than wood overall. I seem to recall that when I got my first wood one it was a big deal to me at the time, but I haven't tracked them for quite a while. Aardvark has that one now IIRC.

I sent an email late yesterday on it and just got a reply from Yangdu. Sorry dude:)

My post is a few above yours.

Norm, until I got my two Villager Balances, the PK felt the best, now I'm leaning towards the Villigers, can't hardly wait for the 18" balance.

Dick

I've taken to measuring just the horn or wood area between the bolster and the butt-cap (along the side) to determine the length and if it is long enough. For a while that area was 3" which I find too short.

The more recent ones now are 3.5 inches which is much better (to me). I also have one that is 3.25 inches and that is pretty good.

From what I've seen the earlier ones were between 3.5 and 3.75 inches.

Anyway, no more under 3.5" ones for me.

The reason I did not go for this Pen was because it didn't look Penny enough to me. :)

Eric.

Ha! Thats the exact reason I went for it. I like how pointy it looks. Might be less of a chopper, but more of an all around small defensive/camp chore type blade. I wonder if it is just the picture? I will post pics when I get it.
