Silly me, I'd thought that neem wood (Azadirachta indica) would be too soft for carving. Fortunately, I checked, and it's in the mahogany family. Learn something every day.

Does neem wood smell as bad as neem oil? I had some of that around as a fungicide/insecticide a few years back.

"Bad" smell? Never smelled it myself, but I've heard folks on this forum describe the wood as uniquely pleasant-smelling.

For what it's worth, there are those who say neem oil may have abortion-causing properties--a caution to keep in the back of your mind if any of your womenfolk are (or are working on getting) pregnant.
