The Shop and Kamis Need Your Help!

Most of you might already know that the availability of electricity at
Birgorkha shop in Nepal is not that reliable.
Well, it is worse now than it was when I visited a while back.

The Kamis are having a difficult time at the shop since the electricity
they need to make your knives and
swords on special orders is not constant.

I need to generate enough money to buy a generator so the shop and the
Kamis have the power they need
to create the high-quality products you expect to get from me. In order
to do that, I am going to run a special
Knives and Sword Sale on the forum until I can afford the generator.

I am Liking that Villager by Vim..... If it Only had that Steel Guard....

Yet.... I feel minimal angst..... I know that these Superb Blades Will find Good Homes with a Fellow HI Family Member.

That and it also Must be something to do with the Gorgeous Everest Katanas that dwell in the Collection here at Our Abode.

:)

Thats unfortunate to hear the electric situation is getting worse! I'll try and do my part to help out.... now the only question is which one!

That villager by Vim is looking really nice, but the Norwegian in me is screaming for that Seax! I'll need to think about this and hope one or the other is still available in a bit.

I have one made by kami Dil. It took one heck of an edge.

The H.I. Seax may look small next to a khukuri, but it's a lot of knife.

Ugly Duck: You will NOT regret this. I have had my tarwar for only 2 days and I LOVE it! This afternoon I waded through a small grove of tallow trees with that bad boy and it was great! Slashing and hacking and......... anyway, I want to do my part to support those true craftsmen and their families less fortunate than me and I do not want to step on any toes, so if there are no objections I will send an e-mail for the 15" Kobra by Sher Kami. Blessings to all

How sharp do the swords come?

If it was me, I would not WANT to use such a large and beautiful thing to hack through bushes. Perhaps this is just my Japanese training speaking, but there is a difference between a tool and a sword.

So If I bought one I would want to have mine sent killing sharp, with the assumption that I don't dull it very often like I do with a kukiri.

I can where you are coming from but I intend on using mine when I get one because I see it as Wolf writes:

... a machete on steroids.

I have looked a various alternatives for a strong long bladed machete and nothing comes close to the strength and cost of the HI Tarwar as a bush blade.

Ideally I hope to get a 'beater' for work and if I can find the right one, to have that one as part of my display collection.

I do not have Japanese training, but I expect all of my edged "tools" to perform basic tasks. THIS IS A TEST. IT IS ONLY A TEST.

A sword is a pretty purpose minded implement. I think that any Spartan, Roman legionnaire, Samurai, or knight would balk at the idea of their sword serving as a tool. That's not what a sword is for. If it does labor, it's a machete. A sword is for taking lives.
That's like digging a hole or chopping down a tree with a rifle.

When a Spartan, Roman legionnaire, Samurai, or Knight took possesion of a sword, do you suppose the warriors took the quality of the blade for granted? Possibly because it was produced by a known maker, it was assumed the blade would perform as advertised? Or is it possible the new owner tested the blade himself to be sure of it's quality? Unfornutately there are, at least where I live no Persians, Gauls or Picts, rival Daimyo(?) or Saracens to test my blade.

Have you never heard of Google? I'm sure there's a company out there on the internet who will ship you a couple of Seracens to test out your broadsword.

In all seriousness, though, I'm not saying they'd never test a blade. But I don't think domestic work is necessarily the best test for a sword.

I believe that the import/export of any Japanese, Gauls, Picts, Saracens would be frowned upon. Magen I used my M240 machine gun to chop down a tree once when I was in Germany. It performed the task admirably.

Not very. At least mine didn't.

Yeah, but, umm, my dragon Tarwar didn't seem to mind taking down a small tree.

Must be my Scot training. ;)

Well, they're no harder to sharpen than any other HI product.
Although it's interesting how NOT sharp combat blades were kept. Seems razor edges don't fare well on armor.

Maybe a deer or hog can volunteer.
Corner drug dealer?

Thought about it, but I think I'll try the Falcata first.

I guess, technically, that's a sword, too. . .

So many to choose from. . .:D
