I enjoy that you folks have been putting swords out more recently. Those, and the farm knives are simply amazing deals for the price. :)

Np. I had to start my first HI some time. :) Re-reading the reviews from the mainpage right now.
One thing the reviews might not show is that some of us think Tirtha is the best kami presently working and should be the heir apparent to be the royal kami.

I feel bad agreeing with this, having not had the chance yet to test out the works of Kamis Rajkumar and Bal Bahadur for comparison, but really, all the blades I've held by Tirtha are just excellent. 17 inch YCS at 24 ounces? Just lovely!

Man, great YCS by Tirtha Kami!!!

This is what they're supposed to be like IMHO, 24oz is where my old Sanu YCS is, and it's nearly perfect.

Really hope we see more of these, I'll definitely end up getting one if I can.

Good grab on the YCS mobileninja. Looks like Tirtha did a good job there. If only they would put the point back on the awl instead of leaving it for you to grind down. A good place to start none the less...one big blade, two kardas and an awl. Be safe and have fun.

Peace

Rick

Thanks for the good words Stickfred. I can't wait to test it on some of the wood and tree stumps on my hill. I've been wanting to do a comparison as well to my first khuk which was designed by Mccurdy. I use it in the yard as my no.1. I'm hoping this one will be my outdoors and camping tool. Now all I need is a sword for the zombies and I'm set.. maybe.

Fantastic job on the YCS! That length/weight looks spot on.

In total agreement with you gentlemen, lets hope more Khuk's are released in the lighter weight as of their forebears.

Plus some swords too please Yangdu? :)

Nice blades! I'm amazed the Tarwar is still there. It's the same quality as the horn handled Villagers snapped up the other day, except it's carved satisal wood.

That loose scabbard is easily fixed by the way. That used to be a common problem for a while, and a thin strip of leather glued into the throat of the scabbard works perfectly to snug it up, and you'd never know the difference.

I wonder how it would work as a broadsword for Kung Fu (dao).
Is that 28.5" for just the blade?
How thick is it?
Also curious, being 5160, how the heat treat is, that is a long blade.
I am tempted...

28.5" Overall length. Figure the handle to be about 8-9" and you've got about a 20" blade.

Qeth just got one in yesterday that is 1/4-5/16" thick at varying points along the blade. Otherwise you'd have to check with Yangdu on that or wait 'til some of the other Forumites can chime in on their Tarwars regarding their thickness.
