Deals for 3/31 -- Pix, Stick knife and Banmara

That stick knife reminds me of a Kora, maybe that's where Raj got his inspiration for this design from.

Well, I have one of about every HI model, even ones with somewhat limited utility, but this is one I just would never use personally. Others MMV. When I think of a jungle knife, I think of a 21" chitlangi, or 25" kobra, or maybe a larger sirupate. This is more of an elephant killer. ;) Plus the handle is wrong for me. I have enough truly useful HI knives to be picky about ones that don't look as if they would work as well.

That stick knife on the other hand looks totally cool, and if I had been here on time I would have given someone a run for it! Looks like a very clever useful design. Looking forward to hearing more about it. I like the sheath as well.

Norm

I'm kind of in the same boat - at least as I look at it... I'd rather hold out for something like the Samsher, other model khukuri, or, most preferably, a normal size M43 with a standard bolster, minimal cho creep with a black horn handle...

I like the knives and all and have my share, but I only started buying knives because I came here (prior to being in a forum, I had one well worked Camillus air force knife last me ~20 years before loss/theft in shipping. I looked for a khukuri on reference/experience from a cav scout (to supplement my new air force survival knife).

I love the new variety (villagers - heck I'm a newbie with village wallnut handled BAS, Sirupate and BGRS - which would have taken years as I hear it from others before). Khukhuris to me are something very special though. I think about them a different way than knives.

BTW - I owe a picture set. I e-mailed Yangdu and asked for a 40+ ounce anything to work out with. Shortly thereafter, my brother ran into a 20" ish tree that had been half dead for about 7 years at my parents place. I took the 40 oz., habaki bolstered GRS and went to work. I also took a really nice Jange some people may remember as a comparison. The Jange just bounced off. The BGR outworked me and I'll finish with pics when time and weather permits.

I've lucked into some very special HI products, but it's the khukuris, sometimes the leftovers I grab at the end that I'm really fond of...

Stick knife without brass buttcap looks better to me.

From a public relations standpoint, one might have an easier time carrying such a thing, ie camping, hiking, walking the dog,as it has a more "toolish" appearance.
