You betcha.

Here's a funny story for you. Over in OIF it became a popular practice in the tents for guys to nail some 2 x 4's into self standing wooden crosses for use as arming racks. The premise was that when you were getting ready to crawl into your fartsack for the evening, you arranged your helmet, body armor, load bearing gear, et cetera, onto your little stand, so it was neatly organized all in one spot. That way you could suit up in a hurry if you needed to, even in the dark.
Well, there was this light colonel, who was an okay enough guy, but I've served with better, if you know what I'm saying. He asked me if I were to find any spare time, could I make him one of those arming stands. I did, I set to work one Sunday afternoon with my khukuri and my JKM, and really had the wood chips flying. Some of the troopies hung around curiously watching, but none bothered me, because, as I overheard one of 'em say, "you don't want to go fooling around Sarge when he's got his knives out".
I presented the fruits of my labor to the colonel and his jaw dropped wide open. There before him was a lovely, but somber looking, gothic cross, like something out of an old, old, cemetery, it's upright and arms terminating in carved fleur de lis, and chip carved in bold block letters at the center was the colonel's family name. He quietly thanked me, and was still standing there scratching his head when I walked off. In the background I could hear sporadic peals of unsuccessfully suppressed laughter. Whittle? You betcha.
