I agree River Rat. That bonecutter is something. I love the blade shape. I'd like to see that around 15-16" and with a straighter handle...something with less flare on the end.

The Baby Bonecutter is definately pleasing to the eye. Anyone who does not have a Tarwar should consider one. They are awesome blades.

When (if) I get a return on my tax, I will ask Aunty for a Bura-made Tarwar with a full tang longer handle and slightly wider blade to fit my height and build. ie short and fat LOL!!!

The da Dao i have is not for cutting and the HI Tarwar (with slight modifications) would be the bee's knees.

I can relate Titus, I am able to get 2 hands on my Tarwar just barely. But is is my favorite HI blade to date.

I really like all the knives posted today, though the Tarwar and JKM-1 stand out the most to me. I wish I had the cash. The things I would do with that Tarwar!!!........

I also use two hands on my Bura Tarwar.... very comfortable. Its such an awesome blade - has to be held in hand to fully appreciate what a good feel it has to it.

Hey - just received my first JKM-1 yesterday.... very nice "little" knife. I put the quotation marks around "little" cuz I mean little relative to the vast majority of HI products. It dwarfs my Fallkniven H-1 so its by no means a weenie of a blade. Blade is a full 6" long, 1.5" deep & 1/4" thick with a tapered full tang. Excellent knife for the price.... very happy with it!

Anyone have thoughts about the pro's and con's of villager finish over full polish on the Tarwar?

I personally like the villager finish more than the shiny. Just has "the look."

E-mail sent on the Tarwar.

Got the Tarwar. I REALLY like the villager finish as it's not as shiny. I may get a bit more linseed oil on the handle but I like the duller wood finish versus the lacquered look. Nice blade!

IMO you got a great blade ...pick of the week!

Just wanted to share my thoughts on a BBC (baby bonecutter). It's compact and *stout* -- the ratio of length to thickness is such that, given its full tang, you feel like you can pry boulders out of a hillside with this one. The handle is a touch smaller than would have been ideal for my size 9 hand, but definitely usable.

I got the BBC for my son to use as his first khukuri in a few years, but it would make a heck of a hard use belt knife for an adult.
