custom orders.. I guess I got with all of this a but late as I was not able to get one of those in... I have a few I'd like to see about too but I suppose I will wait for the new guys to get settled in...
 
Interested in the CAK. Hope you knowledgeable guys could enlighten me,

1) what's Dhar wood? How strong is it? I'm in Malaysia (hot humid) so should I be concerned about cracks on the handle?

2) Villager fit and finish, is it like "forge finish"?

Villager fit and finish is what a khukuri looks like before any polishing. It will have a satin finish blade and its fittings will look sanded. Forge Finish is the black scale you see from time to time on the blades, it is how they look before any filing or sanding is done.
 
Sounds very good. Thanks Karda. Been looking for a CAK for a while now and this one fits the bill. Need a work blade and the finish will do me nicely.

Well, darn. The kamis are out of Dhar, so my Bonecutter will get Satisal wood handles. I hate it in one way, because I was looking forward to the red handle on a BC.
in another way, I don't so much mind. I figure if Satisal is good enough for the vast majority of HI knives, it should be just fine for my BC.
As long as the knives and scabbard are well made, I'm happy.
This will mean that I'll have one knife each with horn, dhar, and satisal handles.
 
Now all you need is one with Mountain Walnut, Neem, Chandan Wood, Monkey Pod Wood, Sisau wood, Bayar wood and Antler (of which there are several varietes as well) and you will have a whole set! LOL! I am sure I missed some too. ;)

I'm insulted, kiddie stuff? I assure you, my choice in blades depends largely on how well it decapitates adults :)

But honestly, been looking at a CAK for a while now and this Dhar wood is good enough for a regularly-whacked bell and wagon wheels for the rocky mountains then it'll be perfect for handles!

Trying to but still no reply from Auntie. Should be willing to ship to where I am cause I bought twice already from her on to separate occasions. I Pm-ed and Emailed as well as stating in this thread so I'm pretty sure if it hasn't been sold yet then it should be just a matter of time.
 
Alrighty, just wondering because that Dhar seems to be calling to me. Knowing that it belongs to someone else makes it diminish.
 
Cotherion, with Pala here, she has been taking longer than usual to get back to folks via email. Email remains the very best options for you though, you just have to be patient.
It may take a day or two, Dad comes first! :)

Dhar is some SWEET stuff and it is sad to know the Kamis have exhausted the supply of it now...

I'm pretty excited with the CAK. Strong wood and strong design means it'll last me forever! This one will be a user, chopping branches and limbs (tree not human :)) and I'm pretty sure a Dhar handled, rough finish CAK will be perfect :)

I know where that is, near the new Tescos?

I'm currently travelling to and fro from KL to Melacca and Kelantan for the time being, won't be in penang for awhile unless boss decides to station me back :(
