Gehazi, I agree 4 or 5 kami is not enough, I think tight quality control by the senior kami together will the student kami is necessary or any more hardware equipment in U.S. suitable for them to speed up the production process.

well we don't want them to be different than they are, I am pleased beyond words that demand for HI product is so high, they deserve success more than anyone -- its just that fine line between giving us a quality handmade fairtrade product and becoming another mass production company -- any other CEO would have already squandered the "small-time" charm of HI , but thankfully people who truly love the business and its purpose took up the flag.

and I intend to follow them wherever they go ! I think waiting lists and DOTD being only sales are in the end better for business than moving to a larger scale mass production that gets away from the individual kami, I mean thats why the knives are so special, each one is from a specific craftsman, not a machine. and definitely why I am so dedicated a customer and plan on spending many thousands of dollars more here to support it and what it does.

I didn't mean for large scale production like a factory. All hand craftsmanship is what we want it. Every inch of steel is touching by hand these is the most unique and traditional way to finish it!

Ah...understood. Yes, I agree that HI is special, and the way they do business is the best and only way, I for one, hope they never go the mass production route, and continue in the traditional way of production. It may take longer, but the finished product is a soul bearing item of the Kami who manufactured it.

yeah I understand totally Pk, just got me on a soapbox about how much we all love HI for these very reasons, not trying to say you wanted a factory, but it did remind me what we ask-- we just gotta be prepared to support a slow expansion, where the same time and effort is put into each blade and kami, you don't make bura and sher over night! offerings have been really cool lately and I am pretty sure they will keep it up!
