cul: I got the DD for the BDC and KLVUK, then sent money. I heard back from Auntie, she shipped those already, but didn't see my email about the Siru and Hasiya. Reinquiring today, but at this point I'm probably gonna get both. I just hate having to pick one OR the other :b

, It is hard to choose between 2 blades when you want them. Sometimes it's easiest to just get both...lol

I forwarded your post when you didn't get a response, she said she got your email and had already shipped. She didn't mention the Siru or Hasiya, so maybe she didn't get to that yet.
Getting both is good.

EMS on the 17.5 inch 23 ounce Gelbu special by Lachhu. First post and hopefully first purchase, hello everyone!

Thanks Bawanna, I appreciate it; always lookin out for us guys with wonky emails! I woke up this morning to an email saying she shipped the the BDC and KLVUK "yesterday," and that she would ship the Siru today. She sent that email around 9-10 Reno-time last night, so my fingers are crossed that there will be a triangle box waiting when I get home from work today! I sent an email this morning asking to get this Hasiya along with the Siru, still waiting to hear back with shipping total for both.

Edit: DD received for Baby Hasiya

Welcome RymoJo!
I hope you get it! Gelbu special is my favorite khukuri and that one has one of the most beautiful handles I have seen!

Welcome and grats Rhymojo01! I second that! Gelbu Special is a great first knife and Lachhu sure knows how to make them:thumbup:

Alas, I'll have to wait for another one to come along; it was already claimed. I'll be quicker next time, now that the wife is warmed up to the idea.

I must confess to being the culprit here. Aside from wanting a lighter weight M-43 such as was typically used in the World Wars, the Gelbu Special has been on the top of my list. I already have a 16.5 inch World War II model which weighs around 24 ounces. And although my 18 inch M-43 is gorgeous it weighs 34 ounces or so. I've never actually tried to pull the trigger on the kukris here in this forum. Perhaps I got lucky and perhaps the huge difference in time zones worked to my advantage. I live in Thailand. The time zone here is 12 hours ahead of Central Standard Time. So when I got back into my condo at around 3 p.m. (which is 3 a.m. C.S.T.) from jogging I saw the Gelbu Special here at about the same weight as my smaller WWII with a 2 inch longer blade, saw that the Walnut grips are one of a kind, and already intrigued by the description on the HI web site that the Gelbu Special "has excellent fit and finish" (as if other models aren't), I had to go for it. No doubt most members in the forum are asleep at 3 in the morning so felt that living on the other side of the Pacific just might work to my advantage and I had to take the shot.

That Yek Chirra looks interesting, I may have to pick one up.
I wonder how it would stack up compared to my M43.

I calculate just under 46 hours elapsed from the time stamp on my email to Reno, until the postman's knock on the door.

If Amazon was smart enough to put Yangdu in charge of their shipping, they wouldn't need no stinking drones!:D
