Deals for 7/20 --Pix, Cherokee Rose, Dui Chirra and Great Buys

For you warty. After a quick scan in the archives, Berkley's tools to go along with the Dui Chirra were tweezers, awl, saw and buttonhook in addition to the karda and chakma. The Dui Chirra model is patterned after an older khuk that Berk either supplied for HI to copy or they used a model that he made. The YCS was made from a model that Yvsa made in which he incorporated elements of different models that he felt would make for a good khukuri.

The gent with small hands... DanSmithy, I think Auntie is giving you a hint with that Dui Chirra.;)

Hi Leo,

Yangdu has kindly used these words for more than 18 months to help those of us with smallish hands to be aware that the that Khuk on offer has a smaller than normal circumference, typically under 4inches.

It has helped avoid the frustration and disappointment of buying Khuk's with grips which are too big to use without modification.

Cheers,

bruce

Thanks Cpl,
can't wait to hold it! Auntie says it will take 5-6 work days to reach me...I keep my fingers crossed...our post office is not very good to say the least.

Bruce,
my hands are small;)
and you are right...it's good idea to give as much info as possible on every model. The HI khukuris are not the cheapest blades (not that they should be) so good information is crusial for newbies like me to help make any decision.

By the way guys:
If (for argument sake) one doesn't like his choice of khuk or simply needs to "release" one, What and where is the best way to find better home for it?
Is there a place for "exchange" like or resale etc.etc.
I mean...even if i don't enjoy the particular khuk so much...I certainly don't want to sell it to an idiot, given the history and family work that went behind it.
hope this doesnt offend anyone as it's not intended in any way.

There is a sale area here on Blade Forums for Individuals and this is the place for that sort of thing.
One must join at the Gold level or above to use this feature. Joining is done by paying for a membership, follow the membership links.

Hiya DanSmithy, glad that the emails and phone calls I made to Yangdu about the issues I has having with too large grips have had a lasting effect. Those of us new to HI and have not had the chance to develop an eye as to judging grip dimensions by photo's alone need all the help we can get otherwise it can be an expensive learning experience especially when you do not live in the US of A. but it does build up a collection quicker than expected! :p

One thing I have noticed is that sometimes a Kami just makes a smaller grip for a Khuk than normal for its length and weight range, and it sure helps those lucky ham fisted folks as well with the extra info.

Thanks for your efforts Bruce. Not all Western people have large hands. Hell, I'm not even Western by blood. One of the reasons why I've been limiting myself to the smaller khuks.
