There's a buncha volunteer students clearing blackberry bushes from the creek across the street from me. The Summer Ecology Corps or something like that removing invasive species. They are using rakes & snippers. I figured it would more efficient to use a hasiya & offered mine, but the leader said their insurance wouldn't allow it. Interesting that an ancient peasant tool would work better than a new-fangled mechanical instrument... but it does! If you keep your hasiya sharp it is one heckuva tool....
 
I can see why you wouldn't want untrained students swinging an hasiya around others. I'm sure that's why they don't get a sickle or scythe either.
