That katar is a stone cold stunner!
EMS on that devilishly beautiful white metal M-43, the handle and simple shape is calling to me. It is really hard resisting these.
That VUK handle is amazing too.
 
The Banchero, Farm Knife, and VUK are the "get me's" on this round.

I've got several of each, banchero and farm knives are beasts, and the VUK is a user/beater.
 
Ok my thoughts and conversations with Ms Yangdu about the Farm Knife. For the longest I overlooked the FK probably because of the black scale. I’m not real sure but I’d continue to pass it up. That was a very bad decision. Finally because of boredom because “they all started looking alike” but in some varying sizes, shapes, details..still a season of boredom. I finally pulled the trigger on a Farm Knife!
It became a refreshing delight to experience the new shape, design and not as polished like the Tamang so many talk about as their “go to” Knife! This has become my “go to”!
Talking to several people on the forum which gave me a world of info about the edge profile of the Farm Knife and asking “will it chop like an AK?” The answers were unanimous that the blade profile was too thin for extreme chopping!
Still my curiosity was pushing my thoughts as to why such a large knife that’s shaped like a massive meat cleaver can’t chop??

Being exposed to a lot of ABS knifemakers in the region where I live, the Holy Grail of the perfect Knife was to get the perfect convex edge mated with the perfect temper to produce the perfect chopping fighter, all around so called Bowie “Fighter”!
Anyway that was my 1980’s intro into the ABS!

So I asked Ms Yangdu a question?
Can the Farm Knife chop as good as an AK? Her response was, “I saw some people chopping limbs in Nepal effortlessly! It not only will chop as good but maybe better!”
I’ve definitely experienced the “better” and deeper penetration of the blade but if the temper wasn’t there, I can definitely understand the problems it could cause with the thinner blade edge!

This is my selling point for the Farm Knife!
If there are any typos, I didn’t proofread what I just wrote!
You won’t be disappointed with a Farm Knife!!

Edit: I have 4 Farm Knives now! Does that say anything about it?

I totally agree Cul! The spine on my 4 are very thick! The edge was always the directive that was always brought to my attention. But my attention has always been the temper of the edge. I’ve always thought this edge, if tempered properly should bit deeply into whatever it was directed into!! Not the blades fault, but the temper!
I’ve heard some complain about their edge rolling from something they chopped into with an AK or a Gelbu special!

The farm knife is plenty stout. The Farmcatta and Tamang do suffer from a light spine in my opinion. And yes, the heat treat is the culprit in edge failures. Just want to state that for the record. BTW-The farm knife by Kumar shouldn't still be here-as Bawanna says "knives should live in pairs" (my paraphrase..), so I will attempt to have it join my Tirtha made, buffalo horn hafted Farm knife. EMS. And DD.
