Kumar is doing great work these days, but I'd give odds that the YCS with inlaid handle is an older blade donated by a forumite to help HI in these post-earthquake hard times.

Just hoping that isn't a heat treat issue. This one will be a dedicated real worker when I get it.

You cannot really "see" such issues, well maybe something by etching. It is reflection.

There's no concern about warranty service.

Auntie wouldn't sell a knife with a heat treatment problem. Even minor problems like a bit of rust or meaningless crack would drop the price way below 145.
