Kumar is doing great work these days, but I'd give odds that the YCS with inlaid handle is an older blade donated by a forumite to help HI in these post-earthquake hard times.
 
Good to know. I thought a discoloration might suggest a heat treatment problem. Nevertheless, I look forward to my M-43. It will be hacking some wood.
 
Where the heck was I? Man o Man!!! Thats a nice YCS! Love the grey and black bands on that M43 too. Those sure look so cool in the sunlight! Grats on some fine blades gents:thumbup:

Auntie wouldn't sell a knife with a heat treatment problem. Even minor problems like a bit of rust or meaningless crack would drop the price way below 145.
