Ah, my favorite- the Gelbu Special. If I didn't already have one of almost identical specs....

The GS is, to me, the Swiss-Army knife of khuks. Go get 'em boys....

Cute baby chit too.

If anyone is interested in trying their hand at polishing horn, that Pen Knife looks like a prime candidate.

For a real user which one would you rather prefer of the two listed: the Foxy Folly or the Pen Knife?

The FF here is a half inch shorter and weighs 3 ounces more than the Pen. I'd get it if I wanted more work done.

munk

Either one's likely tougher than you or me.

Edited my earlier comment 'cause Munk's probably right.

Well, that was simple. The two I was considering were gone before I showed up. :p

*Edit: Is it just me or is the Pen more Pen Knifey than the other ones we've seen over 15"? The front end of the blade seems to be a little more rounded and less WWII-ish. Or is that just my imagination?

completely, the GS is just amazing. the fullers are wonderful and set it apart from some of the longer skinnier blades, and it's also STOUT. my lord. whack whack whack.

still can't quite wrap my head around the baby chit. good chit though.

Thank you munk, TomFetter and hollowdweller for your replies. I guess the issue is already solved: Gary007 has already snached the Foxy Folly.

Gary007 according to all the experts who took the time to reply to my question it appears that you have got yourself a winner. Happy chopping!:)

There seems to be a fan club for every darn HI model offerred; know what I mean? It's uncanny. Gelbu lovers. People who swear by chitlangis. Chiruwa lover...
M43 insistants. Tarwar. Himalayan sword. Every model has it small cult.... well, except maybe the munk modified AK bowie. I feel a little like Ken Waters. He was asked to help redesign the 30/30 within modest pressures and the same case to get a little more reach out of it. 7/30 Waters did that with a 7mm bullet. But it wasn't a screamer. People asked: Why should I get that thing, why not a 7/08? (Because you couldn't put a 7/08 into many levers. Anyway, I'd always thought if the AK Bowie had a straight edge, I could use it like a cleaver. It's certainly not a streak of greased lightening. It don't look graceful. I think me and Steely are the only boosters.
Sure chops things though. Maybe I'll do a log chop with it someday.

The Kamis started blowing the design- getting a AK Bowie that was neither the old model nor the straight edged variation. Yangdu halted the operation until she could square it up.

I asked her to make a full tang Crow because I'm a paranoid sucker about over-kill strength. I'm not sure the full tang models look as slick as the original, but they are very competant looking. Crow with hat.

Whoever gets the FF please report on chopping ability. Even an ounce might change the formula. I'm one of those who does not believe the 24 ounce models are as suitable as the 28 ounce versions. There were to be no more 24 ounce versions, and all the recent ones are coming in around 28. Until this one.

And that's all I know at this moment in Time and Space.

Yep, the ol' Munk Chunk Bullet Bowie Cleaver Special (did we ever name this thing? ) is awesome!:) mine no long looks like it did when i first got it. It's been put through the paces and has come out scarred, but beautiful. I'm still pretty sure it was forged from dark matter as it feels like it weighs 80lbs. Good for zombie skulls;)

Yangdu told me it would return. When the kamis can become clear again on how the blade is modified. They did fine at first, but then deviated.

Anyone who does own one should do some cooking and food prep with one. I own three other cleavers, one very heavy one, but none of them cut like the HI AK Cleaver does. How about mincing carrots without noticing any effort?

Is it just me, but the bigger Pen knives seem to be getting more curve to them and are looking a lot like a WWII.

My thought when I saw this one, too.
