20 1/4 inch 24 ounce new design Sword by Sher with all the Sher features. Himalayan Rhododendron wood (Lali Guras) handle. Your's for $165 YBB

The Himalayan Rhododendron is magnificent. Below is a picture of me in '79 (guy in yellow sweater), resting beneath a little rhody bush in Nepal.

Very pretty! I'm not sure of the Uddha knife, but the new design bolo I really like a lot. Just an hour or so after this posted I thought to check in, but got so busy at work I worked straight thru. Just as well as I would have had to go back into the hole and I just climbed out halfway! :D

You know, someone mentioned on another thread what incredible variety we are seeing on these daily deals. I think it was Danny. Back a whole 18 months ago it was always satisal or horn, always habaki bolsters, and the same basic models. I still went crazy on them and have more satisal than anything, but have tried to supplement them with all these other types and handle materials.

Great knives!

Howard really gets around, doesn't he?

In 79 I was still in college. Never went farther than Canada or Mexico.

In 79 I was 3. Never went further than the backyard. (So I'm told.)

Our rhododendrons around here aren't magnificent, but they can be pretty. And there are plenty to go around, let me tell you.

In '79 I was 39, sh'ttin in tall cotton and wipin on the top leaf!!!! :D
As usual, didn't last all that long. :grumpy: :o :foot:

Hmmm... I don't recall seeing much Satisal lately. So I have a hole. I've tried to focus on the blades, but some handles have been really awesome. The 18" Chandan UB blem I got (#3 like all 3 of my UBs) is a wonderful handle even with the (very) slight split. It's a full 5" long between the bolster and endcap and relatively thin. I'm in a relatively good position I guess, I'd really like to build backward into the standard models...

Isn't that the same design a forum member had made about 2 years ago?

Ah...it's Bod White's bolo.

Good eye John! I like the karda that's with it. Look at the little awl; it's missing the tip just like the one on the YCS! I think I like the darker handle a bit better, but the bolster on today's DOTD one more.

Holy Cow!!! They kept my model. I never thought I'd see another one made. The "table leg special" lives! I like the bolster better on this one. Let me know if comes with the karda and chakma I'd designed too. That one is 12 ounces lighter than mine, it will probably handle like a whole different knife, but that is not bad either. Who ever got it, please post a review.

I guess they haven't been making great knives for these many years by forgettin' stuff. ;)

Me too. I took a year off after my freshman year to wander Asia and get enlightened.

It didn't work. ;)

But, for all of the old duffers here, I'd like to lead a chorus of:

I Was Born Almost Ten Thousand Years Ago
from http://ingeb.org/songs/iwasborn.html

I was born almost ten thousand years ago,
And there's nothin' in the world that I don't know;
I saw Peter, Paul and Moses,
Playing ring-around-the-roses
And I'm here to lick the guy what says 'tain't so.

2. I saw Satan when he looked the garden o'er,
Then saw Adam and Eve driven from the door,
And behind the bushes peeping,
Saw the apple they were eating,,
And I'll swear that I'm the guy what ate the core.

3. I saw Jonah when he'mbarked within the whale,
And thought that he'd never live to tell the tale.
But old Jonah'd eaten garlic
And he gave the whale a colic,
So he coughed him up and let him out o' jail.

4. I saw Samson when he laid the village cold,
And saw Daniel tame the lions in the hold,
And helped build the tower of Babel,
Up as high as they were abel,
And there's lots of other things I haven't told.

5. I taught Solomon his little A-B-C's
I helped Brigham Young to make Limburger cheese,
And while sailing down the bay
With Methuselah one day,
I saved his long flowing whiskers from the breeze.

6. Queen Elizabeth, she fell in love with me.
We were married in Milwaukee secretly,
But I schemed around and shook her,
And I went with General Hooker
To shoot mosquitoes down there in Tennessee. 7. I remember when the country had a king.
I saw Cleopatra pawn her wedding ring,
And I saw the flags a-flyin'
When George Washington stopped lyin',
On the night when Patti first began to sing.

Bob, I emailed Yangdu and found out that there was a second one avaliable last night with a Neem handle. I've emailed her and put dibs on it if it's still avaliable. *fingers crossed* If I snag it, will definantly post a review.
