Deals for 9/22 -- Pix, HI Annapurna Bowe and Geat Buys

thought about going for the CAK when it opened, but figured it's a little smaller than I was looking for...now after reading your comments, I might have to look some more...congrats to all the winners today, nice choices went up.

You're joking! So I post first, I PM first, and it's not about either? What a crock.

Yeah you have send an email first ,then is standard practice to post a "email sent" thoughtfullness post so people know that it has been bidded on as well as stopps a mass of emails that would keep on bombarding Auntie mailbox for that item as it is presumed gone.Problem is some people dont post email sent soo people get beat out without even knowing who got it.

I actually made 3 bids before I finally got a kuk win(2 weeks ago) and all 3 were timestamped withing 2 minutes or less on the email (2 were same time stamp as her posting) and only got a win on the last 1.You have to reply by email very fast.People on here are ruthless when it comes to DOTD's.

Think Fatman at a Pizza Buffett mindset and you will do ok.

My 12" CAK is my favorite woods bumming knife or when I want to conceal a chopper or at least not look like I'm going out to chop down telephone poles:p They'll do a 2" diameter limb with no drama. I am however going to use mine at the city park this weekend to harvest a few Osage Orange (aka HedgeApple) branches for walking sticks.

Be aware that the smaller ones won't fit your hand the same way the bigger ones do. Depending on the size of your hand they might be fine for you. For me the diameter is fine but the length is a tad short.

I might take that little ang khola :/
Edit: looks like I was a little late again.. damn work... keeping me away from all the deals...

Would you say it would be fine for a 4" wide palm?

Spookie, this is all well documented in both the stickies and the link in my signature.
The email trumps the post so email FIRST, then post so we all know what is gone.

or be a stealth shark and don't post at all, up to you.
Personally I always post what I am after once I have emailed.

Am I to late:D:D

Warty, do me a favor, please post a couple pics and short review of that SK.. I'm sick but I just love simple...

Id like to see what the spine width is and how long the blade is..

Nice one..

EDIT: I just looked at the pic again, appears the edge is a little warped.. hopefully though its just a shadow in the photo..

Personally I think the handle on the small khuks I've had are on the short side for someone with a 4" palm; BUT the way a knife fits your hand is a personal issue and these khuks are handmade by different kamis a Tirtha might fit while a Murali doesn't or the other way around.

For me the 15" - 18" seems like a good range.

my writing is poor because i had rotator cuff surgery this morning. my 12.5 grs/bc is a near perfect little knife. the handle is short, but actually fits my hands very well. i grip the bolster also. i almost jumped on that little ak, but 10 seemed a little short for me (im 6-3). i think whomever got it will quickley find it so much more than the specs indicate. i discovered the little khuks are a true pleasure. I really hope Auntie gets some small new/old style bonecutters in. my tastes in khuks are ever evolving and now many designs, like the 12.5 grs/bc, really appeal to me as well as the big ones. the archives show that many little versions of traditional styles were made in the past and i hope they come back. be aware though, these khuks multiply quickly. i went from one to five in a couple of months. they are special to me. enjoy.

I was the one who got the little ak...and am anxiously awaiting its arrival. I'll start a new review post to let y'all know how it is. Problem is, my perspective might not be that deep for this will be my first Khuk :)

recalibrate your eyes first. it took me a short while to adjust to the little imperfections and characteristics of true hand craftsmenship. now my khuks are so very special. i bet you will return over and over again. i also bet you will quickly find that little ak is good for about 99 percent of your chores, except serious chopping. you'll be back though and will have plenty of khuks to compare it to before too long. enjoy.
