Master Smith Harvey Dean Wolftooth Damascus and Ram Hunter. Blade Length 5". OAL 9 1/2". Forged 1075 & 15N20 damascus in an unusually impressive wolf's tooth pattern. The depth of light play and shimmer in the damascus is simply stunning. Deeply gnarled ram's horn handle is mortised with hidden tang, stainless guard and pins. Tooled leather sheath by Dean.

Nordic Knives has this same model in a simple ladder-pattern damascus with ivory handle for $1,495. From what I've been told, the wolf's tooth damascus is much more difficult to forge--certainly much more impressive to the eye.

I hesitate to even post these close-ups of the damascus, because they still don't begin to do the blade justice. You really have to hold the knife in your hand and turn it in the light to see the apparent dramatic movement in the steel pattern--it's like looking into a piece of fine, deeply chatoyant burled wood in sunlight.

The blade has a full distal taper to a fine working point and of course balances perfectly on the index finger right behind the guard.

By the way, the Nordic Knives piece referenced above does not come with a sheath at that price. This one has a nice tooled leather pouch-style sheath hand-made by Harvey himself.
