dear benchmade, your customers arent all idiots

Thanks, Joe.

Well, I've known a few idiots in my time, but none of them were Benchmade fans. Mr. Newell has a track record and isn't known for trolling, and your post was not a problem. As a spot of advice; when we buy a knife or a pack of rubber bands for that matter, once we own them they're our property to do what we will. But even sent up to Oregon City in pieces, Benchmade has a very generous repair policy that is very hard to beat...and many of us have sent in "problems we caused" and had their product returned no questions asked in perfect working order, parts and all. If there Is a questionable repair order the cost is cheap compared to tossing the thing in the trash and then replacing it. That's like burning money.

I would ask that this post be closed so it DOESN'T live on forever please.

The title "dear benchmade, your customers arent all idiots" suggest on it's face that Benchmade thinks at least some of it's customers are idiots? or you felt you were treated like an idiot by them and needed to explain that you arent? Not exactly a positive remark.

I think that's what JNewell was trying to explain. I don't believe he was "trolling" the tread at all. Nor was he insulting you.

After reading your post I don't believe it was disparaging or negitive.. Just the title suggested it was going to be. At least that's what I first expected.

Most manufactures have the same clause in their warranty. I don't necessarily agree with it but I do understand. I can't tell you how many times someone has come to me with a "bag-O-gun" parts because they thought they could take it apart beyond basic field stripping and couldn't get it back together or, once they did something wasn't right. Then I discovered they lost a pin, spring or screw. It happens more then you think and I suspect the same is true with knives.

I just think Benchmade got tired of repairing problems others cause from disassembly and are concerned about possible liability too and put that in their warranty.

Like I said, I don't necessarily agree with it but I do understand.
