decarb temps

At what temperature does plain carbon steel start to decarb? I was wondering if I need to PCB coat a 1084 or W2 blade that is being stress relieved at 1200 or so.

not sure if its decarbing but it will need much clean up after so might as well bag it to coat it
for me anything i care about over 800F gets bagged

For a 1200 F stress relief you need only 1 hour. In any case you don't get significant scaling and no significant decarb until you get above the critical temperature !!
