Important Info! Deceased makers

Dale Sandberg of Eight Dollar Mountain Foundry passed on March 31, 2025 at the age of 85. He was most famous for making knuckle knives from the late 80's - early 2010's. It is estimated he did around 2000 knives of various types through his career.

RIP.
Enjoyed talking to Dale at the Oregon Knife Collector Shows. Had not seen him for several years. RIP. John

I am a retired knifemaker and recently purchased an older custom by P Koch. I think I remember meeting him before I started making knives, (35+ years ago), but I am having trouble finding any information on him. Does anyone here know about him?

ah shit. I've messaged back and forth with Schuyler over the years- never got to know him super well, but he was always just a really nice guy who encouraged me on my own journey quite a bit.

God speed, my good man!

Roger Nelson, Central Village (and later Brooklyn), CT, July 31, 2025 at age 86. Makers mark R.Nelson. I just became aware of his work and would appreciate information about him and his knives. I have learned that he was a very interesting and talented individual.

I am VERY disappointed to announce that talented maker Keith Ouye from Hawaii passed away from cancer on Oct 11, 2025. His wife Amy called us.

Beyond his quality work on steel folders, He was an especially good friend to our family. We had many a dinner together at Shows, and HE always grabbed the tab. That's how how was.

Thank you Keith. Rest easy.

I just read the Mastersmith and longtime superb Knifemaker Rob Hudson has passed….God Bless and God Speed.

I got to be an aquaintance of Rob during the weekend seminar at Ashokan, he was inspirational in regards to my leather work and I adapted his copper rivet swivel belt loop to those occasions I make a fixed blade sheath.
He had a few throwing knives he made and those were SO well balanced that I was very accurate even with the first throw, they were impressive and wish I had a set of them!

Here's some details about his passing and those left behind, life is too short

I just found out that H.P. Klötzli passed away in February 2025 after a long illness. Klötzli and his knives are well known around the world. The first knife show I ever went to as an exhibitor was his Swiss Knife Show back in the 90s and he was a gracious host who gave me a lot of tips and introduced me to everyone there. I saw him quite a few more times when I did the Swiss show and it was always a pleasure to chat with H.P. RIP H.P.! Here's a link to his death notice: https://www.hommages.ch/de/traueranzeige/hp-klotzli-misteli
